I love an open fire and could have a fire every night if I had the time, but my wife is allergic to trees, so she is affected by the smoke more than others. I thought that I would give the "Smokeless" fire pit a try. I looked at other brands and was put off by some build quality complaints, while this one was praised for build quality. I was really looking forward to spending more time with her around a fire and seeing how it really performs vs all the hype. I can say that I was VERY impressed in so many ways. It's very easy to get a fire going since it breathes so well, and once it gets going, it puts out a lot of beautiful flames, nearly zero smoke, and an insane amount of heat (manageable heat... I'll explain). While the fire seems to be focused and you get ALL the heat from it, you really get the heat in an upward cone shape away from the pit. In other words, if you sit around the fire, you get heat, but not super intense. If you stand up and get near the pit, you step into the area that the heat radiates, and it does radiate a LOT of heat. Even as the fire dies down and you only have a couple logs burning, you feel more heat that a roaring fire in other open pits (minus the smoke of course). The pit itself is beautiful, the operation is fantastic, there's nearly zero smoke, and most of all, you don't smell like a fire pit at the end of the evening (that's a huge plus). I followed up the purchase with a base and a lid, and now they are selling a handle to move it around as well. This is one of the most exciting purchases I've made in quite some time. It's truly a surprise to get something that really lives up to what it promised and so much more. I really did get a lot more heat and used less wood over the course of the evening. I'm confident that you'll love this product ( I am in no way endorsed by Solo Stove, nor did they ask me to write a review of any kind).     • Amazing littles stove!
There is almost absolutely no smoke, and we're so used to doing the "move you chair dance" when having a bonfire. The heat radiates out from the Solo so much better to everyone sitting around it. It's like having a propane gas heater you see at restaurants. We are so excited to purchase the top extender to even direct the heat upwards a little bit. We did not buy the little stand it sits in, and it sits on the driveway just fine, but we think we may eventually purchase that. It's so nice having a bonfire on a dry driveway and sitting on chairs on an even surface- so much safer when older people come to our get togethers! The metal material looks so classy too. At our last get-together, people were so impressed and are soon going to be ordering one as well. We've had a couple in the last ten years, and they've been a couple hundred dollars; the price of the Solo was reasonable too. It will be interesting to see how it looks in a year. I can’t believe how much heat and atmosphere this stove provides. It’s simply amazing! We have the larger one because well, why go small! The family loves the atmosphere warmth and smokeless firepit on the wooden pool deck. It’s a 4 season family affair roasting hotdogs and marshmallows anytime of year. I’m going to write a very specific review of this item so you know exactly what you get. First. It is ready to go out of the box. If you have the extra $50 spend it for the removable ash pan because the only way to clean the other is to flip it. That is the only down side in my opinion. When you first light your fire, yes there is and will be smoke for the first 20-30 minutes. It takes time for the metal to heat up the side chamber which is how it pushes the oxygen into the fire to reignite the smoke. After that it is 98% smoke free until the temperature inside the fire pit drops. The amount of heat this thing puts off with just a small fire is very impressive. There is no need for a large fire. To anyone who says the metal gets hot and burns you if you touch it, really it’s a fire pit made out of metal…what do you expect. Don’t touch it. You wouldn’t put your hand in the oven and you use that every day. Have some common sense. The inside does get discolored after use but again you are superheating the metal and there is spot from the wood so it’s going to happen. It is easier to clean because it’s stainless steel but it will never look as good as it did coming out of the box. I highly recommend the stand to give you the extra 3 inch lift because it not only provides mor airflow but it will keep the heat away from the surface below. This will melt a trex deck and stain wood or colored concrete. The price is a little high but truly it is the best pit I have ever had. Highly recommended ... show more
