I been looking for a good AC unit for a large bedroom where I setup my work from home office in. Majority of in window units are for the type of windows that you open up and down and mine opens left and right. After lots of research online I decided on the Soleus Air 8000 BTU AC unit. I saw the other reviews how the units were damaged in shipping and sending a unit back for exchange/repair was not fun. I order anyways and box is huge and very heavy. Luckily mine was not damaged. I followed the directions let the box set right side up level for 24 hours before installing. Once unboxed the unit is no where as heavy as the box was. I was able to easily pick it up and install it in my window. I also purchased the Soleus Air Sliding Window Kit (which I think is a bit over priced) But I'm not handy enough to make my own. Oh did I mention I live in an apartment so I needed something that I would not be modifying the window or window sill to install an AC. This unit is great, very quiet in the Queit mode and cools my room in 15 minutes or less from 80-85 degrees to 70-68 degrees on the lowest fan setting. I did add some extra vibration dampening to the rubber adjustable legs on the outside of the unit just to be sure less vibration and noise is transferred to downstairs neighbor. But no complaints from them. I asked them if they noticed any new noise since I had the Soleus for 2 weeks now and they did not notice at all. Also why I didn't go with one of those portable AC units with the hoses going out the window. Well those hoses get very hot and transfer heat back into your room making it a less efficient system ( I know because I owned one in the past) and I did want those ugly hoses either. I've been using this unit for a month now and it's been fantastic. I love the saddled design. It leave far more window once installed and leaves far less area to insulate. To that point, the foam they provide does an amazing job. I get better heat rejection from the foam than my double pane windows. I don't use the remote or the app so I can't speak to those but the unit does a great job cooling my home studio with loads of heat emitting gear and a reasonably quiet SPL level. ... show more

    • BE AWARE -DON’T BUY IT!!!

I bought this unit in May/21, had delivered in the end of June/21. It worked okay for the remaining of the 2021 summer. I live in MA so we don’t use ac all year long. On the fall it was storage. Spring 2022 we put the unit back on the window. Started to have problems with the unit around July, doing a VERY LOUD NOISE and keeping showing the message FL on the panel. Contacted Amazon, they asked me to contact Soleus directly, since they are third party, Amazon has no responsibility with the product. I did, they took long to contact me back, I had to called Amazon again and had them called the manufacture and transferred to me, myself I called a bunch of times and left messages and they never returned. So when finally I got in touch with someone there, he told me he does not handle product warranty, I asked if I can speak with who does, he said no he wasn’t available, but he will try to help me. He asked me the questions what the unit problem was, what noise was doing etc. Kept going back and forth talking to someone there, probably the one who handles warranty that refuses to talk, and he determined the unit had a defective. Unfixable! When I asked how can we proceed to replace my unit, he said it past the warranty. I questioned how a product costed over $600 dollars was made to last only one summer? That wasn’t fair and they should offer me at least something to replace my defective unit. No they did not offer me anything, they refused to send someone to fixed, specially after over the phone determined is unfixable and they refused to replace because is after the “ 1 year warranty” . Never specified and I never saw any warranty description on the Amazon seller ads. BE AWARE IF YOU BUY REPUTABLE BRANDS THEY HAVE AT LEAST TWO YEARS WARRANTY FOR SMALL APPLIANCES. One year ago, the product WAS relatively new, there wasn’t a lot reviews, specially talking about the unit been a little over a year and started to show signs of problems. But now if you take a look on reviews you will see I’m not the only one with the same problem ( code FL message on the display and extremely loud noise after 10min on) After tried all my options how to be refund with Amazon, manufacturer and even my credit card company, I had to embrace my mistake of buying this no brand unit and have the loss/waste of $610 dollars for an air conditioner that didn’t last, was used in only one single summer . Soleus customer service is an oxymoron — Clueless. Amazon has just dropped their 10,000 btu model because of a plethora of crummy reviews. The first 10,000k we received was returned due to vibration (Shaking the wall). Cust service rep said it was due to improper installation. (Someone across the Big Western Pond needs a course in QC/QA.) It took FOREVER to get a FREE RETURN shipping label. Amazon had to intervene. TY, AMAZON! Another issue: If your exterior walls are not thick enough, the support screws in the exterior cabinet fall out before reaching the wall. Again, Soleus CSR argued that is impossible to happen — I have pictures. Before retirement, I owned and operated an appliance store which sold thousands of window ACs. Whenever there was a noise, vibration, or other issue, we immediately replaced it and returned the defective unit to the distributor. We are still waiting for a refund for the 10k unit which was received at Soleus in Hacienda Heights, CA on 27 June @ 11:32 AM. We purchased a 2nd 10k unit (Before Amazon dropped it from their product offerings) which vibrates much worse than the return.To Soleus' credit, our 8k units have NO vibration, but the red filter LED glows constantly (from the time of install). Filter had no dust, washed it anyway, no change. The light SHOULD go out when the filter is removed (Due to almost-zero back pressure / reduction in airflow). Also, Soleus has issued a pre-paid shipping label to us. But now, I can't order a replacement from Amazon. I guess we'll have to live with the vibration, because I really do not want to go through this return hassle again. And, we love the design / concept. Fingers crossed that the units hold up for a few years, or at least till the Amazon 5-year extended warranties expire. Blessings to y'all. ... show more
