I installed this and left it up for a few weeks to see how well the battery would charge, hold, and function through the night. It's in an area where it only gets partial sun, so I was a bit worried, but it also doesn't see a ton of use since it's along the side of the house. So far it's great, very bright and well charged when I walk by. The real test will be in winter when the clouds come in - but so far I'm happy. The solar function is nice to not have to deal with changing batteries or spending hundreds / thousands of dollars on running wires. The mounts are easy to install, and has a quick release function so if something goes wrong down the road it is easy to swap out. I'm knocking it down one star as one of the lights was broken on arrival - which doesn't bode well for long term durability. So I had to send the back and wait for amazon to send me a replacement, but thankfully that is a pretty seamless process. The housing for this is a cheap feeling thin, brittle plastic - I don't expect a ton of "stress" on the lights where they are so this is probably ok for my application, but I would be surprised if I'm still using these in 10 years - which is an ok tradeoff given the price. ... show more

About a year ago I bought a dozen of these lights, put them up all around our place, and both my wife and I absolutely love them. Recently, however, one of them went bonkers. (Not to be too technical, but I'm talking really off the deep end bonkers: rapid on-off, fluttering, burning during the daylight, not working at night, that kind of stuff.) I wrote it off to normal attrition but then my wife suggested a far more creative explanation. I had mounted the light on the roof overhang of our veranda to monitor the back door of the garage. Between the light and the garage back door was the AC cooling fan, which switches on and off at all hours of the day and night. Was it possible, she asked, if the light's motion sensor might have been driven to distraction by the cooling fan's incessant on-off behavior? Moreover, when the fan is running, it's often hard to tell whether it's blade is actually rotating or not. Could all that motion, and fake motion, and indeterminant movement have driven a poor motion detector bananas? Or so asked my wife. And I had to agree. It was possible. The original had been a good boy, it had worked like gangbusters, flooding the back garage door with light whenever it was triggered and otherwise keeping its photons to itself. So I'm replacing it with an exact replica. And I'm mounting it away from that busybody cooling fan, too. Long live Tuffenough Solar Outdoor Lights. ... show more

I find it hard to write this review because one of my lights rates a 5 star, the other a 3 star. I chose not to return them because I had to have someone install them for me (being a senior citizen) and I don't want to ask for help again to take them down. One light, everthing is as it says it is. I use setting #2 so I have enough light to see outside after dark, but it lights up bright if it detects movement. It easily runs on this setting all night long so it makes me feel secure. The second light, works wonderfully for about 2 days, then does not come on at all at dusk, yet it does light up bright with movement. I use the remote and turn it off, then on, reset it to #2, and it again works for about two days. Having to do this is a little inconventient for me to do and makes me hesitant to order another set of the same as I do want to do the other part of my yard. As this most likely is just a fluke and bad luck on my part, I would still recommend these lights and hope you get two working ones. When working right, they are excellent. ... show more

Ordered a pair of these lights during prime days, and I received them quickly. I live in a very rural area, with a large population of coyotes and other nocturnal predators. There's nothing fun about running into a skunk, raccoon, or something larger in the dark! I have to escort my 2 small dogs every evening for their night time potty breaks. The house mounted floodlights just weren't capable of lighting the far corners my property. I needed something easy to put up and maintain for lighting up the really dark areas. These lights are perfect. Took just minutes to install. The hardest part was trying to decide where I wanted them first. They also come with remote control so I can change their settings without having to touch the lights. Yes, there's multiple settings, good for each individual application. I am ordering a couple more of these lights as I think I will use them out by my driveway gate, and storage buildings.
