The solar charging feature, while convenient for emergencies or outdoor activities, is relatively slow compared to plugging it into a wall outlet. It fast charges with a wall plug/cord. It very slowly solar charges. The instructions say it takes 5 days to charge from solar . I used this on a 5 day sailboat trip in the ocean. I shut off my phone when it was not in use. So things worked out for me.

    • Portable but poor battery life

Have been on the road for almost 2 months with this as one of my charging options. It is a good size to carry around in a backpack, durable build, plus the flashlight is a nice, strong light. On the flip side, noticeably short battery retention, where it is good to charge my phone once (but not to 100%..). And you need to primarily re-charge it at charging outlets as the solar panel seems negligible- I have tried setting it out in the sun for 5-6 hours at a time but no difference. I wouldn't trust it as my sole charging means when backpacking, but only if on a hiking day trip. Even then I prefer to take my other portable charger which shows power percentage unlike this one... Haven't tested out the cheap mini carabiner it comes with, but at least it provides a place to loop in your own paracord to securely fasten it to a strong carabiner of your choice. I purchased this to leave inside my car to provide backup charging. I have it hanging from my purse/bag hook on the upper portion (headrest post) of passenger seat. It gets plenty of sunlight, charges pretty quickly, holds a charge, has multiple ports, and a bright flashlight that is always ready (no dead batteries)! It is great that it can be recharged itself using a regular outlet when there isn't sunshine available. Gives me peace of mind that I always have the ability to charge my phone or other gear when I'm out and about, plus have a bright flashlight at hand. I don't have to drag my inside or travel chargers out to the car and back! It is an attractive device that is lightweight for what it is (a large battery), charges pretty quickly using solor energy, and can power multiple port-type devices. Seems pretty darn sturdy too! Love that it has an attached clip to hang/attach to your bag, backpack, or in your car/bike/lawn chair/boat! A must-have device to keep you connected wherever may be! ... show more

I got this 2 months ago and after a handful of uses it doesn't come on at all or charge anything. The few times I've used it I never mishandled it, dropped it, got it wet, nothing. I used it while sitting on the back porch and on a few trips to the grocery store where it was stored in my purse the whole time. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. Mainly because when it worked, it performed just fine. But the 5 or so uses I got out of it was not worth the price. Hope this helps someone! *****UPDATE: I realized my order was past the warranty date but I figured I'd get with the company after writing my initial review because of the issue stated above. It just didn't seem right for it to have shorted out the way it did after being used so infrequently! Turns out, after a bit of research on their end, they'd sent me one from a bad batch! So they ended up sending me a brand new one and I am happy to now report that after much more use and daily testing of this new one they sent, it works GREAT! This is what I was looking for!     • It's a solar charger so it MUST sit in the sun right?

The media could not be loaded. Yet the instructions it comes with says don't let it get too hot. most people know that the sun is what? hot ! Especially if you have it sitting in your car window or any direct sunlight .. it's going to get twice as hot so hot that you can barely touch it. I don't know if it's going to affect the life of it or not. I also decided to check the compass and guess what it's wrong and the button that turns the flashlight on and off you have to hold it doesn't tell you that. I don't know if im going to keep it. once I got it charged up yes it charged my device fine. but you can't charge it up and then put it in the box and you know wait a week or whatever because it doesn't hold it or if it does I'm doing something wrong so I'm not sure I'm going to wait another week and keep trying out things on it and I may or may not send it back but it's not my Top Choice I've gotten better. Also the green light flashes as it's just sitting there before you even plug in your phone to charge it and then the blue lights are flashing at the same time and it's still not charging my phone. It's not even charging itself now. It won't work at all. ... show more

Works as a power bank but it will not recharge even under direct sunlight. You will need to plug the power bank up to charge it again for next use.
