We have a lovely green velvet couch that is still like-new after 22 years, and we plan to keep it indefinitely. But our cat loves to scratch it even though he has his own scratching posts and furniture. For a long time I had those clear plastic sheets that stick to furniture and prevent cats from scratching. Well, they worked fine but it also meant we couldn't use the furniture either without having to remove and replace the plastic anti-scratch sheets. So when I came across this couch protector - and in so many colors - I was thrilled! The large size was the right size for the couch, the color was right, and it is even reversible if I want to use the lighter shade. It's a nice soft fabric that is easy to vacuum hair off or and easy to wash, and now all of us plus the cat can use the couch and still keep the green velvet in mint condition. I did not end up using the straps that came with it because the shape of the couch does not go up in back so there is nothing to wrap the straps around, but the protector still works perfect, tucks in well, protects the arms, and I love it! I always said that I wouldn’t allow my dog on the furniture- but she had other ideas and seemingly on one particular chair that she claimed as her own lol! This cover has been amazing. It fit well and the measurements (for a small chair ) were pretty accurate. I did use the strap to hold it onto the back and it does keep it from sliding down or moving but I don’t think it would be required if you didn’t like it. It is not very thick but it still works well. Protects the furniture from dog hair, dander and nail damage but it’s not waterproof - which is not a problem for me but may be for others. Overall for the price it’s perfect and I’ve stopped the “battle for the chair” with my sweet pup (who is currently napping on her favorite chair). ... show more

This sofa cover is well made, as far as we can see so far. It fits well enough and looks good enough, considering it is hiding most of our new leather sofa. It stays in place pretty well, given the use Danny Boy (reason for getting it) has made of it. Update: Now that we have used the cover for a while we can mention a couple of things. First, the elastic strap that goes around the back of the sofa has metal fasteners that are annoying. You slip metal prongs into little fabric pockets. If you only have to do it just every once in the while its no problem. But we have found we have to refasten them fairly frequently. Secondly, the elastic strap tends to slip off fairly often.(Danny Boy's fault. Should probably mention the sofa is of smooth leather.) We are thinking trying to pin the strap across the back flap in three places or so in hopes that it will help. Overall, we still are happy with the quality and looks of the cover. Hopefully, the manufacturer can make some adjustments in the future. ... show more

Really happy with this cover. As other reviews mention, measure the back of your couch, not the inside seating area to get the correct size! My two dogs, two cats, and one husband all really like this cover. Husband is the only one who actually commented on how nice it looks and how soft it is (huge upgrade from the mismatched sheets we used to cover it before!), but the dogs and cats all happily lounged on it within an hour of it going on the couch and continue to do so, so I take that as praise from them. Protects the couch from drippy post-drink pups, slobbery chew sessions, and the occasional muddy paws, and, very impressively, doesn't hold on to pet hair! I mean, it's still there, but it doesn't seem to collect, and brushes off super easily. It's not waterproof or super thick, I wouldn't count on it to keep your couch safe from bigger spills or accidents, but minor spills and splashes bead up on it and take a little bit to soak in, so it'll at least probably give you a bit of time to wipe up major disasters should they happen. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't stay in place very well, as it isn't very thick (maybe summer quilt weight), and the feather/down back cushions on my couch are notorious for slumping down. To my delighted surprise it's held its place quite well (with use of the back strap), and, bonus! it has kept my cushions in place, too! The "wings" on the sides to cover the arms of the couch are quite generous in length, which is great since I put the side pillow on the dogs' side of the couch under the cover too, and there is still enough length to cover the arm of the couch. Helpful on the husband's side of the couch too, since there is more of a tendency for the cover to migrate towards the center of the couch on that side and the extra length keeps things pretty well covered and helps the cover hang on. ... show more
