This clock won't be on Antiques Road Show any time soon, but it is surprisingly attractive for a plastic clock. The second sweep seems silly, until you need to check the pulse on a horse that won't hold still. Try that with a wrist watch. It looks great in our barn where it is out of the rain. The large black Arabic numerals are simple and clear from 15' away. Good for mother-in-laws and grand-children alike. It ran on a single (carbon) battery for the past 6 months (Apr-Oct). We will see how it does in freezing weather. The added thermometer will show when that day comes. ... show more

    • IF you use a ZINC CARBON battery you will love it.
I have to admit, that I ordered the clock, stuck an alkaline battery in it and hung it up on the wall. Just like my previous outdoor clock, it wasn't accurate. Ok, I thought, I'll order a zinc carbon battery and see if that makes a difference. Since I put the zinc carbon battery in it the clock keeps perfect time. The clock is outside on the wall in Summer heat in the mid 90s, but hasn't lost or gained a minute. I have had the clock for about 3 months. I don't understand why it needs to have a zinc carbon battery, but I am now convinced that you must follow that instruction. I can easily read the clock from 30 feet away. Don't buy, wasted money and batteries! Suddenly stops working and doesn't keep accurate time. Trashed it so I'm not worried that it is giving me the wrong time. Never buying again.

    • Lasted 1 1/2 years in Florida
Worked well in a covered patio in Florida for about a year, then started to lose time. Even new batteries did not help, and the clock would lose a minute each week. I'd reset the time every couple weeks. After a year and a half, the second hand fell off internally, and the internal face of the clock peeled. Given the fact that Florida's weather is very humid, the clock survived longer than others I have had. I'm not disappointed that I need a replacement. For the low price, I'll buy another of these since I don't think a more expensive clock would last any longer. It does have a pretty appearance and the time is very easy to read. ... show more
