They block the light of course, but they’re also well constructed and are so so comfortable and extremely comforting. It’s weird to say but they give a sense of security. I am a side sleeper so I can turn the mask around if I change from one side to another to avoid having the adjusting metal slide between my head and the pillow. I don't turn over during sleep so that is not a problem for me. These masks are soft and comfortable. I wish they were just a bit larger so as to cover the eyes better, but they do keep the light out when adjusted appropriately, so that is not a big problem. It’s nice but I don’t think the straps are comfortable. I would get ones where the straps are the same fabric as the silky eye mask next time.
