I bought this 2.5 years ago and have used it everyday since. Initially I was frustrated when it came and I found out most of the meditations were only available with subscription. It was already so expensive. But for 2 years I used it and enjoyed the sunrise feature and the gentle bird sounds to wake me up. So much better than a traditional alarm. That being said, 2 years in the display is now broken. I never once moved it or dropped it anything and some of the display numbers lights are out? I’m not sure but it’s hard to tell the time. For a $150+ alarm, I expected more than 2 years of life. I am sure there are other cheaper options that can do sunrise alarm and birds so I’d recommend to keep looking. If you are on the fence, this is over priced and quality is low ***UPDATE*** I contacted Hatch directly with the above feedback and they apologized for the issue and offered to send a replacement, no questions asked. When I first unboxed this I could NOT get it to connect as my apartment complex uses a captive portal network (MAC address needed). The Hatch customer service / website basically told me it couldn’t be done and I was so bummed. However, I was determined to get this thing to work. Here’s what I did if you’re in a similar situation: What ended up working for me was bringing it to a friends house and connecting it to their network in order to obtain the MAC address, then connecting it to my apartment network portal using that. I got it connected in my room and it STILL didn’t work. IMPORTANT TIP: I discovered you need to change the last number/letter of the MAC address!!!!!! I contacted my wifi provider and they were able to confirm this & help me make sure it would stay connected. Though the setup process was a bit of a hassle, I am obsessed with this thing. It is so customizable! I fall asleep to a sunset for an hour (watching a show or reading) and when the light goes out it starts playing my rain sounds. It wakes me up so much happier in the morning, and I am so happy with it that I am genuinely considering bringing it with me when I visit my family soon.     • Does Not Work
I purchased this product for use while deployed to the Middle East with the US military. I needed a machine for white noise, night light, and alarm clock and so I thought that this device would be a perfect, albeit expensive, choice. The device shipped directly to the APO address, and upon receipt I attempted to follow the setup instructions where I immediately ran into problems. First of all, this device needs a home wireless internet to function. I should have noticed the numerous cautionary tales from travelers attempting to use them in hotels or students in dormitories, but I thought I could still get the device to work with the Bluetooth on my IPhone and using my laptop to create a wireless hotspot. In theory, and according to the manufacturer, this should have worked. However, during the setup process the device consistently had difficulties maintaining a connection to the wifi network long enough to complete the initialization process. The process would start, and then a minute or two into the 10min estimated completion time it would result in an error message that the wifi signal was lost. The device recommended unplugging the device and plugging it back in, which after several attempts final resulted in giving me access to the wake, sleep sound, clock settings, etc. This success, however, was short lived and after a couple of minutes of adjusting the settings the device again lost connection to the wifi network. At this point I contacted the manufacturer’s tech support, which although courteous and prompt in their replies were ultimately not helpful in resolving the issues. Over several weeks, I attempted to work with the tech support team to fix the issue - according to their diagnostics the device seemed to be working properly and I should try unplugging it and plugging it back in, deleting and reinstalling the IPhone App, etc. In the end, I was stuck with a very adequate night light that could not function as a clock, alarm clock, or sound machine - which is not a lot of functionality for $125. When I suggested to the tech support that I think the device is defective, their own response was to attempt to return it through Amazon. This was easier said than done, and due to the location I was deployed to it took another couple weeks to be able to mail the device anywhere - at which point the Amazon return window had closed. I attempted to recontact tech support by submitting a new trouble ticket and never received a reply. Now I have returned home with my $125 adequate night light, and I tried to set it up again - just in case the home wifi network would magically fix it - and after a few minutes the device lost connection to the network and suggested I unplug it and plug it back in… ... show more
