I have had 2 other of these classic dohm noise machines in my life, each lasting about 6-8 years of every night use before the motor stops working. The sound is a classic white noise… this is the one that most doctor’s offices use for privacy. Works very well and I don’t think they had white (only beige option) last time I purchased so I was pleasantly surprised that true white was an option. The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased a white noise machine to help with the constant noise from my neighbors and passing cars. I have to say, it has been a game-changer. I used to rely on a fan to create white noise, but this device is much smaller and more effective. Like anyone, I find that this simple, little machine does a good job of drowning out background noise at night. It’s helped me stay asleep throughout the night more often, so it’s well worth the purchase.

Many white noise machines use a recording or a simulated fan noise which is not the same. This uses a fan which truly makes a difference. It has a low and high speed, and you can adjust the openings to make it louder or softer and change the pitch a little bit. That said, the range of volume is pretty limited so if you want it truly quieter, you will need to put it further away. We've taken it with us on vacation so we have the same noises there as at home. It's small and takes up very little room, but I don't know that I'd want to pack it in luggage. All the times we've taken it with us have been car trips. Unlike the digital versions, you won't wake up with a headache or more tired than you went to bed. Yes, the simulated white noise will absolutely do that to you. This is the second one we purchased to have a backup and use in a guest room, and if we need another one...we'll buy one of these again. ... show more

A good amount of flexibility in the sound. It does cause a hum in the table if it's sitting directly on, but we put it on a towel and that is much better. Works great. Been using for over 2 years every night, with no issues. We bought a second and it also works perfect.

The media could not be loaded. I use this white noise machine, without fail, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, without any issues. I also use it sometimes during the day to do computer work, when my kids are home from school, and I need to help tune them out a bit so I can concentrate. This has been going strong daily since July, and it hasn’t failed me yet, and I hear no rattling or ‘off’ sounds of any kind, like many reviewers have complained about on here. This isn’t years old, so I’m assuming from July til now, this is likely the latest model, I’d THINK! I’m a very light sleeper, I wake early and go to bed earlier than anybody else, so when my hubby would come upstairs, he’d always be waking me up. Then it’s hard for me to go back to bed. This helps A LOT! I became obsessed with white noise machines when my kids were babies. It really helped soothe them to sleep in a calming matter and drown out background noise. It works the same way for us big kids.. AKA- adults, who don’t sleep as heavy as a log. This DOHM Yoga sleep, white noise machine gets a 4.25 star rating from me. The ONLY improvements I’d make is: 1) it has two volume settings- low and high, as is shown in my video clip. It would be nice to have a volume knob to be able to adjust the white noise sound level to your personal, perfect level. I keep it on high, personally. I wouldn’t mind if it even went up a little louder in this house, but it does the job well. I’m not complaining much about this. 2) I wish it had a battery option, too (for travel.) We have a camper, and at times my kids find it hard to sleep there. This would be soothing for them, but I can’t keep it plugged in all night. Our electric bill for the season there is so high to begin with, but for that reason, a battery option would be nice. Again, not a deal breaker for me, just saying. This unit MUST be plugged into the wall. 3) the price seems a bit high. I think $45 is a bit steep for a machine that only has one sound, BUT a good night’s sleep for you or your child, is pretty darn priceless, so again, just making note of it, overall, not complaining much- just saying. I again, never had an issue with any ‘odd’ sounds or rattling, as is mentioned here. Not ever, to be 100% honest, so that doesn’t apply here. For ME.. It’s a really solid, well built machine that does exactly what it’s meant to do. So while a couple of optional improvements or changes COULD be made on a future model, I’m very pleased with it, overall, and I DO recommend this product to others. 4.25 stars for this product!!
