You get your money's worth - it is definitely strong. I am 44 years old and have used retinol products for over 10 years. In fact, I used to use them every night more or less. After using this one for two nights in a row, my face was flaking off the next day. They are not kidding when they say use it twice per week at most when starting out. I feel like I got a chemical peel. But after dealing with the dryness and figuring out how often to use it per week, I like it.     • FANTASTIC PRODUCT THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!!
Be careful! This stuff works! I bought it on the advice of a dermatologist! Yes, kinda pricey, I know. Skin peels for the first few weeks…which is what it’s supposed to do! Now, my skin no longer peels but because this stuff is so strong, I now only use it about twice a week now. Because I love what it’s done for my face, I started using it on my hands & I swear, my hands are visibly improving! However, there is a downside, but it’s NOT the fault of this product. I learned the hard way that when using retinol, you must also use sunscreen…or you’ll be sorry…and, one unusually hot day, I was sorry…after walking around for no more than 15 minutes! Ouch!! I looked like a lobster head! I’ll never do that again! Kind of bummed that it put an end to my tanning days…but, because of the great results, I can live without baking in the sun for, so far, one season!! I repeat: THIS STUFF WORKS! I am 54 and started with the .5 Skinmedica retinol. I've used for a couple months now and have moved up to the1% retinol. This product works great, minimal peeling depending on how aggresive you choose you be with application. I find that using the product once weekly works best for me because I don't over due my applications. I primarily started to use the product to reduce my lip lines and things are moving along swimmingly. When peeling begins it can feel a little itchy when you sweat or are hot, a cool rag helps as you don't want to rub your face. I am very happy with the results thus far. ... show more

I bought this twice now from amazon based on IG reviews. The first product I received and used for months was literally yellow. Now the new bottle I just ordered the product is white. I have not purchased this from a professional ever so I don't know what it's really supposed to look like. The yellow one made my face red every time I used it so I thought it was "working" and now this white one has done nothing so I don't know but you're def getting a different product every time and I would not chance it. ... show more

This works just as it is supposed to. It starts to exfoliate the skin within a few days of use. But use caution...if your skin is not used to it you will burn your skin if you use it every day. I practically got a chemical peel the first time I used it because I was not familiar with using retinol. The skin on my face was fire-engine red and peeled for days! It was not a pretty sight for over a week. But I couldn't hide at home that whole time it took to heal, so it was quite embarrassing for me. But my skin looked good after the inflammation and peeling stopped! But you can get the same results if you use it responsibly. ... show more

    • Amazing product, but be careful, this is no joke
This is truly an amazing product. I have used prescription Retin-A products and a handful of others and this one has them all beat hands down. It is made by the same company that makes Botox, which for me means something. This transformed my skin in a matter of days. It was extremely astonishing. It must be their delivery system encapsulated with antioxidants. Whatever it is, this stuff works. However much like most of the other reviews on here, this stuff is no joke and is very strong. I can say I had less skin irritation overall with this product over any other similar product I have tried, including prescription products. However I still experienced some redness, extreme dryness, and very little peeling. Like most retinoids, this product will dehydrate your skin like a desert. I found myself layer on moisturizer several times a day and my skin just drank it like water when using this product. So although extremely effective, be prepared to add things to your routine which deeply moisturize your skin. Eventually I moved from daily use to every other day and that seemed to help a lot with the irritation in general and over drying. The over drying isn't a normal skin drying. It makes your skin sort of the text of a porcelain doll..and it looks like one also. So just imagine having to apply moisturizer to a porcelain doll and you can see how this sort of changes your skin and demands constant nourishment. I added a moisturizing face mask, which also made a huge difference although I do not do that regularly. ... show more

A doctor a visit regularly recommended this to me and I believe it’s worth every penny! I’ve moved up from the 0.25 to 1.0 since I finished my 0.25 bottle!
