  • Insanely accurate, wonderful machine
I have bought two of these, the first one malfunctioned and the seller took excellent care of me in resolving that problem (Happy Crafters has a lifelong fan as a result!). The machine itself is frankly amazing, especially compared to my Maker 3 and Cameo 4. There are things I can do on this machine that I just could not on the others, mostly comes down to accuracy, but Romeo is: 1) Much, much faster than both - try 1 pass die-cut instead of 3 at a speed about twice as fast as Maker 3 2) Much quieter than both, but especially the Cameo 4 3) So accurate that I can cut a .05" 'thumbnail peel' edge on the stickers I make without adding extra time doing the second 'kiss' cut (in the same job!) 4) The software hasn't had an update in the couple weeks I've had the machine. I can't say that when it does finally update that it won't break the cutter, but I can imagine that's a problem unique to Cricut software iykyk 5) Built in Wifi - if you have trouble getting it to connect, it doesn't like WPA3 security at all. I couldn't find this documented anywhere, but changing to WPA/WPA2 connected on the first try All of these machines have their quirks, and their accompanying software varies. Leonardo Design Studio is Siser's. It seems less capable at first, but I quickly found out that it was perfectly suited for everything I need, with several features I haven't tried yet. I will say that I DO NOT like that Leonardo Pro is a subscription instead of a one-time fee, but I also have decided that I don't need Pro at this time anyway. It came with a trial and it saved some time being able to tile your designs and have them fill the available page space, but copy/paste is free, for example. One of the better parts of Leonardo is that it is able to use more surface area of my material, I'm able to get an extra sticker per sheet because of this, so it's saving money right out of the box! If you're serious about your cuts, your time, your business, this is your machine. It's definitely an investment, but one that's well worth it, in my opinion. The feeling of quality my stickers now have was worth the cost of admission alone. I was manually slitting the back of my stickers for 'easy peel' before, this takes it to a new level of professionalism and quality. The biggest gripe I would say I have with this, its features aren't well documented, including Leonardo. I was able to find everything I needed by searching and mostly great folks on Reddit. If you have used Design Space or Silhouette Studio, most of what you can do in Leo is old hat (except they call offsets 'contours'). It has a literal camera for alignment, that works very well. Place the blade near the line, but directly above the triangle (you'll see). Tip: when it can't find the first registration mark, it's looking for the bottom left corner of the 'L' page mark. Adjust the crosshair on the screen to this corner and say OK, it should then find the other three and continue on its way. I do glossy stickers with a clear overlay and it's been able to register successfully every time (try that with the Cameo 4). In my opinion, this is going from hobby grade cutters to (entry-mid level) professional without getting into the $1000s. I love it and can't recommend it enough! ... show more

  • Wow just WOW, but beware the learning curve, Large format Print N Cut
I got this machine for larger format print and cut, 13 x 19 and larger. I almost gave this 4 stars because of the software but I know they are still fixing things. When you import an image (like from photoshop), it does not size it the way the image is, instead you need to set it, and it can be a bit confusing at first. I've gotten used to it now. This won't scan and cut like the other brand machine, however the pros of this machine are FAR FAR FAR greater than the other. I can see that once I do get the right size saved, I can print them and cut them with ease, back to back, side to side. And the machine is extremely well built, very professional, it's not a toy. You have much more control and can do things the others won't do. It's FAST if you want, or SLOW if you want. But be prepared for trial and error, because things are not explained clearly to you, you have to figure it out. FOR EXAMPLE. My printer settings were saved for borderless printing, however the print will not cut because the register marks don't line up with the software sending the cut job. I should have trusted my instinct. DO not print with borderless option. Also the orientation that it shows the mat and the print on it, caused me confusion, you can place the print almost anywhere as long as it registers with the camera. There are other things about the software that are difficult, but then if you want the good tools you need to subscribe and pay, so that part I don't like, and I will just get by using the basic tools. It will ONLY cut paper thin or cardstock, don't bother trying thicker. Also where do you buy the 24 x 24 mat? Lack of info anywhere. I bought the one at Michaels brand and it's way too thick. I went to LOWES and bought a huge sheet of the same material in the lumber section and cut my own mats, and added in the grid by hand. Took time but works Perfect. As far as the OTHER brand, the scam and cut, are complete garbage compared, and I'm still upset at that company for the ridiculous rules they put in place regarding mat, mat size, scan size, mat type with model type etc... etc... ... show more

  • Perfect print and cut right out the box, so far great!
Fast, quiet, solid, and cuts where it is supposed to right out of the box. So this is what it feels like to have a machine that works *blissful relief*. So far I recommend it. Leonardo software is in early stages so it is a bit bare bones, quirky. I hope it continues to add more basic and advanced features. I recommend you have the final piece/image done in your photo/art software because you can't do much editing in Leonardo at the time of this review. At least it does not crash like Silhouette Studio does. Some features I would like to see in Leonardo ~Auto register feature for print and cut. I would really like to place the mat on the front edge and the machine would know where to find the first registration mark near the bottom of the mat. This can be done. ~Color picker so I can match colors (I could use for a small print bleed effect a few pixels border) ~Print bleed option/settings for individual objects. (Silhouette does this globally for print so you can't turn it off on some objects) ~I would like a picture/scanner cut option for Leonardo software, because I would like to cut scrap materials and other items that don't have registrations marks to begin with. ~More tools/editing options. Much much better than my screeching grinding Cameo 4 Plus I have been contemplating stomping into pieces and taking a sledge hammer to. Continued trouble with line/calibration drift and ruined projects over and over, and reclibrating after every cut. Still cannot get good cuts to this day, even when using thier pic scan mat. ... show more

  • Cut's much better than cricut and that other thing.
Awesome cutter, needs more work on the print and cut alignment, such an advanced machine but poor programing. They have a wonderful camera for alignment and they don't use it to its fullest, lazy programing but I really hope they fix it because it has a lot of potential still waiting to be used.
