Description

SinkShroom Nickel Edition Revolutionary Bathroom Sink Drain Protector Hair Catcher, Strainer, Snare From the Manufacturer No More Clogged Drains Our customers are passionate about keeping their bathroom drains clog-free. Who wants to spend all that time cleaning out their drains or invest all that money on harmful chemicals or pricey plumber visits? Our SinkShroom solution is the best preventative measure you could take against clogged drains. It's patent-pending design is just what the drain doctor ordered. Matches Any Bathroom We know some of you want to make a statement with your bathroom accessories so we've made the new SinkShroom available in Chrome and Brushed Nickel Editions to match virtually any bathroom decor. Customers loved our original 'Shrooms but, by popular demand, we're now back with our new and improved SinkShroom. Keep your drains clear and have fun while doing it. Patent-Pending Functionality The TubShroom and SinkShroom designs have been carefully crafted to ensure optimal water-flow while preventing any hair or other objects from getting into your drains. Clogs are caused by an accumulation of hair, soap scum, and other objects. Our Universal Design The SinkShroom fits in any standard 1.25" bathroom sink drain, which is virtually all of them out there. Most sink drains have a pop up or screw-in stopper that can be removed before placing the SinkShroom in. Other stoppers can be unscrewed from under the sink. We Love Nature Our Mushroom-like look was inspired by none other than Mother Nature. SinkShroom is made to pop out of your drain by about half an inch so water continues to flow freely while all the hair is neatly wrapped around the base, completely out of sight. Clean up is a breeze! The Drain Revolution is Here We're not fans of pollution or waste. If we can solve multiple problems with new products, then we're doing something right. Thousands of gallons of harmful chemical drain cleaners are poured down drains worldwide. Not only are the fumes dangerous, these acid- based solutions often wear pipes down quicker and go back into the environment. We hope to be able to help completely eliminate the ongoing use of these harmful options. On top of that, we wanted to create something that saves people hassle and money. With multiple pets in our household and long human hair to contend with, we were faced with the annoying task of clearing clogged drains all too often. Enter SinkShroom. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words.Ultimate Drain Protection. How did you come up with the idea for this product? My husband and I both have long hair. And we have several pets in the house. Just try to imagine the number of times our drain has clogged over the years from all that hair and the amount of time and money we had to spend to keep it clear. There had to be a better way. It took years of brainstorming to come up with, what we think, is the perfect solution. What makes your product special?First and foremost…it works great. If it solved the problem of clogged drains for us and for our friends, we're certain it will do the same for you. It's made of durable, high-quality materials that should last as long as your bathroom does. No cheap plastics that can crack and bend over time. We took the idea to the crowdfunding world and the response was overwhelming. We're proud of this little product because we feel it's a clever solution to a real problem out there. The only downside is that plumbers and drain cleaner manufacturers may not like us very much after this. What has been the best part of your startup experience? The best part was seeing the product come to life, so to speak. It's our baby now and every person that it helps along the way will bring a big old smile to our faces. The positive feedback from early supporters and early testers has motivated us to get SinkShroom in as many drains as possible. We've learned so much about the process, about ourselves, and about new ways we can potentially improve the bathroom experience down the road.

  • CLEAN YOUR DRAINS FIRST with a 2020 update for overflow sink drains!!
Color: Sinkshroom Chrome Edition Style: Protector
I can't believe how many reviews here have the opinion of how this is gross and moldy and dirty.... CLEAN YOUR DRAINS FIRST. Buy a bottlebrush and scrub them. (you can get a bottlebrush for $1 at dollar tree) They are BLACK and DIRTY. Of course they are dirty, you spit bacteria in them when you brush your teeth, more bacteria when you wash your hands....hard water and mineral build up, conditioners, soaps, toothpastes, shaving creams....…….Don't expect to put this in a dirty drain and expect it to come out pristine with a few hairs on it. It works great but you need a little common sense and a tiny bit of effort. If you have too much iron in your water (city or well water) your shrooms may turn a pink color. This is caused by a bacteria feeding on the iron from the water. If your shrooms turn black, other than all the products you use that go down the drain, there is manganese in the water. EVERYONE has this, city water or well water, a water softener and filters will help with this. Take a cloth and rub the faucet (aerator) You will see the manganese (black). Look at your shower head too..... If our shroom turns an orange color, it is from the rust (most likely if you have well water) I do think that the MAIN reason your drains and the shrooms turn black is mostly from toothpaste, or the calcium in it. If you are brushing your teeth, make sure you rinse the shroom and sink REALLY GOOD or just remove it for tooth brushing. I did have a shroom in my son's sink that he never rinses......typical kid....and it did turn black. I took a 1" pool and spa chlorine tablet and let it soak overnight in a solo cup in an inch of water to remove the black.... DO NOT do this!! although it did remove the black to a much lighter color that is not gross looking .... The fumes were extremely offensive and it discolored/pitted the top of the "chrome" shroom. Remove the chrome shroom top before experimenting with cleaning agents and to avoid the fumes, do it OUTSIDE! an FYI to anyone owning stainless steel kitchen appliances, you should NEVER use chlorine in any room that has stainless steel as it will cause RUST... the fumes will do this, it is not necessary to apply chlorine to the metal itself!!! To the reviews that have stated that is "blocked" their drain...… CLEAN THE HAIR OFF OF IT and STOP SPITTING GOBS OF TOOTHPASTE INTO THE SINK while you have the shroom in!! I do love this product and I have owned it for several years in my tub, shower and sinks. As a side note, did you know that you can spackle a nail hole in a wall with toothpaste??? Yes you can!! Well, if that same toothpaste can dry and keep a hole in the wall closed, what do you really think it can do to your drains??? Please, clean them. UPDATE: I have noticed that all 3 of my bathroom sinks where we brush our teeth have overflow drains. When you look into the drain, there are 4 holes that come from the top of the sink overflow. When the sinkshroom is in the drain, the bottom of it hugs the drain just below these 4 drain holes from the overflow. I have never used the overflow from the sink for its' intended purpose. I didn't even know it was really there until I tried to do a very thorough cleaning of my drains when I suspected I might have drain flies. I then purchased a very pliable drain cleaning brush and meticulously cleaned them from the top overflow down, and then from each drain hole up. This took 2 days and yes, I am anal and I used my waterpick for a few hours with tons of cleaners..... You would be too if you saw the bio slime coming out of these overflow drainholes. This would not surprise me if I had drain flies living off this crap I removed from my drains. Here is what was happening. Any water, toothbrushing spit, mouthwash.......was never backing up into the sink. I had a nice flow always. It was apparently going into the overflow drains from the bottom up instead of through the sinkshroom holes and down into the drain. The funk that was growing in overflow drain was completely gross. Again though, I do believe that the problem was caused by toothpaste spitting which is usually thicker and foamy compared to water. If you have hair on the sinkshrooms, this will back up into the overflow drains too. You have to be mindful with these and I suppose they do need to be cared for more than I have. I honestly love the shrooms, and I am going to replace the sink and counters with one piece units without an overflow drain as I hate my counters anyway. I do not know if I will be using the shrooms anymore once I make this change. I may get a pop up drain and forget it. Who knows. BUT, I just wanted consumers to be aware of what is involved with this item as I recently found this out myself. You have to be mindful with this which does not work with kids. If you don't have an overflow drain in your sink, this is great, but NEVER have it in the drain when you are brushing your teeth. and still clean your drains. I have resorted to toothbrush spitting into dixie cups that get tossed into the garbage. I'm trying to be rid of drain flies now.... and I am NOT saying these caused drain flies. But, they will remain here if there is a food source for them. ... show more

works perfectly for the bathroom sinks

  • Works ok, but not great quality...
Color: Sinkshroom Chrome Edition Style: Protector
I have a problematic bathroom sink drain and when it was last replaced, the stopper was left loose (unconnected to the bar that would move it up and down) so I could remove it to periodically clean it out. That's been ok, but it would move around in there, sometimes slip down and get stuck, etc. So this product is perfect in that it fits in the drain and is stable, but catches hair and debris and can easily be removed for cleaning. It's working fine so far, but there are two issues that I've noticed: 1) The quality is not great - even the "metal" part seems to be plastic, and the piece that actually goes down into the drain is plastic that has already gotten bent out of shape within a couple of weeks. I'm just not sure how sturdy it is or how long it will last. 2) When water runs for a prolonged time, it slows the drainage - it does drain eventually and of course you could remove the SinkShroom, but it can lead to some buildup or residue that you wouldn't usually get with the original drain stopper. I've only been using this for 3 weeks and usually like to wait a little longer before writing a review, but I wanted to document my thoughts so far; I'll come back and edit if my opinion changes further. ... show more

  • Performance & Look Was Poor
Color: Sinkshroom Nickel Edition Style: Protector
I purchased this unit for a drain in our house to possibly eliminate completely replacing the entire drain assembly. The unit was easy to install, remove and clean, however; the biggest disappointment was the unit did not fit snugly in the drain causing the SinkShroom to lean to one side or the other. Essentially, the product works as advertised, however; it did not satisfy from an aesthetic appearance and did not improve the overall look of the bathtub, to which I ended up replacing the entire drain. Unfortunately, aesthetics are as equally important as the functionality of the product, which is my reasoning for a rating of 3 of 5 stars. If you do not mind aesthetics the product should work very well for you. ... show more

  • Works as advertised
Color: Sinkshroom Chrome Edition Style: Protector
I like that it does keep hair from going down the drain. Easy to clean. This one looks fancy compared to my old shroom. I replaced the old one after five years because it got moldy on the bottom from sitting there all the time.

  • Very nice
Color: Sinkshroom Nickel Edition Style: Protector
A perfect fit for our bathroom sink and easy to remove and clean. I like not having that gunk go down the drain. I clean ours about once a week. We have only had this a few weeks so I don't know how long it will last. I hope it will be years due to how much this cost. But plastic eventually loses its flexibility and becomes brittle. That is just reality. And if this only lasts a few months it will be too expensive a solution as much as I like the design. Worse would be if plastic pieces go down the drain. Hopefully that won't happen as I will notice when this starts to come apart. And I hope that will be in years rather than months from now. ... show more

  • Fits well and prevents things from going down drain
Color: Sinkshroom Chrome Edition Style: Protector
I had to buy something to prevent things from going down the bathroom sink drain. I live in an apartment and the normal sink stopper was broken, would not rise and fall when the handle was pulled. Removed the normal sink stopper and replaced it with this. This will not stopper the sink, so I cannot fill the bowl, but I am no longer worried about losing a ring, earring, or any other small item down the sink drain. Also, no longer worried about plugging the sink when I trim my beard. ... show more

  • Great
Color: Sinkshroom Chrome Edition Style: Protector
I like this product a lot. When it’s time to clean it, it’s super simple to just pull it out of the drain and do what you need to do. It’s nice and snug in the drain and comes in numerous colors/finishes to match your decor. The only reason I reduced the stars by one was because it does slow down the water drainage in my sink. My sink tends to fill up rather than just smoothly drain. I guess it makes sense because the water has to move through all those tiny holes. It is what it is, and I will continue to purchase , I would rather use this product than have no drain stopper at all. This is a win. ... show more
