This was purchased as a graduation gift. This "heavy duty" horn sounds great. It is very pleasing to the ear. The tone not ear piercing, and I find that it is more mellow that most other trumpets. I believe we should provide many years of enjoyment. I have no regrets with this purchase.

    • Decent Horn...for the price
This horn plays well. It has a nice sound. I've read comments that it has a mellow sound. But from my perspective, it has a surprisingly bright character. I haven't played regularly for over 6 months, but I can tell this horn is a winner. Buyers have complained that the valve action is suspect, but I think proper lubrication and regular use may loosen the springs for quicker valve response. If that doesn't work, I will change out the springs. I believe, that when I get back my regular chops, I will shoot fire from this horn! The horn is attractive. It has bronze and silver contrasts that stand out. The materials seem to be of decent quality. The instrument has a nice weight. There are some machine striations noticeable on the instrument's inner structure when the tubing is removed, but it doesn't matter too much because no one can see them unless the tubing is removed. So there are some minor imperfections, but it doesn't affect the horn's performance. For the price, it's a good buy. ... show more

    • A Beautiful Quality Trumpet
This is a striking looking trumpet. It plays very well. The sound is less brassy than most horns ( rather mellow ), but like all trumpets the sound is very mouthpiece dependent. The case is elegant. Over-all, quite a bargain.

So far the trumpet has served me well. I did have some valve sticking but it was remedied with cleaning and valve oil. The trumpet looks good and sounds good. It's on par with my Yamaha YTR-4335. I had a ton of valve problems with the Yamaha. So far so good with the Singers Day. Only time will tell if I'll be completely satisfied. ... show more
