I needed this adapter to go on my new woodburner, my wood burner from the factory excepts single wall black pipe stove pipe connector pipe but I wanted closer clearances to my combustible wall and I chose to use DVL DuraVent which reduces the clearance to 6 inches it’s a double wall pipe so I needed this adapter to go onto my wood burner and now I could run my DVL double wall pipe up to my support box and then my chimney pipe from the support box through the roof. My wood burner states that it doesn’t require a damper but for the extra $20 I chose to put it in there I could always leave it wide open but they do offer this part without the damper in it so I figured I may need it I may not at least I have it for an extra 20 ... show more

    • This adapter needs to be adapted for englander.

This was supposed to adapt the 6 inch double wall duravent telescopic pipe with my englander wood stove. It did not, englander has a neck down on the ID of the stove connection. Would not allow this adapter to seat/seal. My solution was to cut a 1.5 inch piece off the male end of the 6 inch black stovepipe and insert it in the stove and this adapter inside that. Please keep that in mind if your stove has a necked down connection. ... show more

Product is well made. As others observed, damper material is not cast iron but is thick plate steel that will last for many years. Damper plate will not completely block off flue, however I see this as a safety measure so that deadly flue gas will not back up into residence when fully closed. I installed this in a 6" X 24ft, double wall Duravent chimney that is attached to a 22 year old Jotul Onslo 500. Stove suffered from excessive draft. I had previously reduced down the air inlet, but this choice while it limited wood consumption, also rendered the secondary air burn tubes ineffective and lowered the heat output. Installing this Duravent damper module was exactly what cured the problem of excessive draft. There is now a longer burn time and higher heat yield. I avoided installing a damper previously because fear of gases backing up in the house overnight while sleeping. This design appears to have eliminated that concern. Just so everybody knows, this product it's not the same as you see in the picture. Yes it's a double wall, it's black, it's a 6" inner pipe diameter but the damper with the handle are not as in the picture. It shows a nice damper, almost looks like a cast metal, what you actually get is a sheetmetal one (maybe 11 gage) and the handle looks very solid and well made in the pic but that is not what you get (at least I didn't) it's an "L" shaped rod with a spring at one end that runs through the pipe and the damper. I went to test the operation and the "L" shaped rod kept popping out from the pipe wall, the spring tension was forcing it out. I ended up drilling a small hole in the end of the rod that was coming loose and used a small washer and then a cotter pin to hold it in. It works fine now. Overall it does the job that was intended to do - after a few minor improvements. A friendly suggestion, change the picture to the actual item and a good description to go along with that (tell the customers that they have to add the final touches to make it work) or sell the one that it's in the picture and make sure it's fully operational. ... show more
