I bought it for privacy but mostly works during the day, if the light is in at night people can still see you through glass. I also got it to block out the heat and uv rays for the hot days.

I live in a 3rd floor apartment with large east facing windows and an older window A/C that previously struggled to keep my room comfortable. In April I purchased the Silver window film & have spent the past few months telling everyone about how great it is. Here's the proof you want: This week my city had a heatwave with 100+ temps and the hottest my place got was 77. My place was easily 10 degrees cooler than everyone else I know, so that's some significant relief. Technical stuff: My windows are huge so I measured twice before ordering the correct size. If you are a hands on person that follows instructions, it is possible to install by yourself but it is a process that would go faster with a second pair of hands. I watched several videos and picked a cloudy day to install and it took a 2-3 hours to carefully install with only a couple tiny wrinkles on the top most section of glass. I suggest taking a break if it's not going well and try again later. Do not install on a sunny day/ daytime or the soapy spray will dry too quickly. Pros: Significant heat reduction Room darkening for early morning sun Privacy during the day My plants are reflected in the window at night Cons: Room darkening = extra dark on cloudy days *didn't realize the silver film would turn the inside of my windows into mirrors at night but I got used to this. ... show more

The film it’s self is great quality and I can see and feel the difference it made right after installation although during installation process I noticed a very large scratch on the film that causes film to inevitably bubble and cannot be fixed since the scratch compromised the smooth surface. I’m not sure if it was scratched in factory/shipping or if the tool provided scratched it but I finished application with a shower squeegee and only used provided tool for edges and had no more complications. I was hoping to contact company but did not see a way how to, I’m leaving this review hoping to receive feedback and maybe get another order sent free of cost for inconvenience. ... show more

Even though it was fairly simple to put on, it did nothing with the heat control. I live in south Texas so the afternoon sun gets pretty hot. This is not able to be put on and reused later. It’s a one and done. It did help with the brightness.

    • Really Cuts the Heat

If you follow the instructions, and are a little careful, you can easily get good results with this product. The key, as indicated in the instructions, is to get both the window and the film wet, it then is simple to move the sheet of film around on the window to position it perfectly. Then you use the scraper to squeegee the water and bubbles out toward the edges. I got this one because the width was just right for my kitchen window. Unfortunately, I guessed the the height and came up about six inches short. Always better to have more then you need, but it worked fine for me because we have blinds up that are always about a third down, so the space is hidden at the top. ... show more
