I don’t know about the chemistry between silicone gel tape and a fresh scar, but I do know something close to magic happens! After the bandages were removed from my circumferential body lift incision, the plastic surgeon suggested I apply silicone gel tape on the incision. So I purchased this tape and applied it to my 360 degree scar. At my next post-op checkup a week later, even the surgeon was amazed at the healing progress. The tape is reusable, but here are two bits of advice: save the backing and don’t make the strips too long. When you remove the tape from the scar, the edges tend to curl. Shorter pieces are easier to handle, and the backing provides a surface for placing the used tape. I first bought another brand that didn't stick well. This one does. It is very easy to remove the backing, unlike other brands and I also like that to is flesh-toned (caucasian). Great product! The jury is still out as to whether it actually works as intended, I need to give it longer.

I had the perfect situation to test out this scar tape. I had several small fresh scars from surgery on my leg. Both scars were healed and I applied the tape to one of them. It stuck for about 4 days and I replaced it for a few more days. When I peeled off the tape the scar seemed smooth and even with skin surrounding it. When I examined the scar I had left uncovered it seemed pretty much the same. I think the tape helped a little but not enough to recommend it to others. New scar on belly, started using the tape immediately after healing was completed to prevent permanent scar. I put the tape on before dinner and take it off when I shower the next morning so I am getting in the recommended 12 hours (actually more) of the wear time, every day for the past 4 weeks. The scar looks exactly the same as it did on day one after 4 weeks. The directions say 5 weeks and it should no longer be visible. I don't think a miracle is going to happen during this last week, but if it does, I will update the review. I gave it two stars because it may just be my skin or maybe I have to wear it longer than the package says, I don't know. The star I granted it is because it is COMFORTABLE to wear. It is flexible enough to move with you, peels off easily but still stays put when you need it to. The package is a large roll (you cut the strips to size you need) which should be enough for any person to do the 5 week trial on a new scar. Unfortunately, it's just not working for me. I am going to keep wearing it for at least another 5 weeks (I figure we will give it double the time claimed to require). Should anything change and this scar magically disappear, I will update this review. ... show more
