Bought these for security in shower after total knee replacement. Like some of the others said...use common sense and make sure that they are secure before getting in the shower. All you have to do is push the suction cup in as far as it will go and push the clamp. Very secure. With time it will loosen up...it is a suction cup. I have used several types of this grab bar for over ten years. I like then they are useful. They have limitations. It is important to remember that these will not support pulling yourself up. They are used for balance when you in the shower. If you want something that will support your weight and help you up then get a permanently attached grab bar. Always test to insure they are still attached. They will loose suction eventually and need to be reattached. Even under the best conditions they will come loose eventually. I have had this brand now for a month and they have come loose twice. Once I pushed down on it causing it to come loose and the other I had the suction slightly on the grout line of the tile. I highly recommend this product for ease of use and safety. It is extremely secure once installed. Installation was a snap. The only caveat is that you must have a solid and smooth surface for the suction to be secure. in other words if you install on small tile and the recessed grout lines are under the suction cup, then it will not be a strong connection. ... show more

Used for my dad for his shower. Is particular shower stall you couldn’t screw anything in to it because there was nothing to grab onto behind the plastic so this was the next best step, and given the fact that he was struggling to walk and get into the shower stepping over the tub I bought this two pack Which worked pretty well if you clean the tile and the shower stall properly and make it free of grease and particles you have a better chance of having better section. There was once or twice that the handle released not from the shower stall, because that was a flat smooth surface, but on the tiled wall, because there was gaps where the grout was so you have to angle And place directly on a flat surface without any air gaps and you’ll be all right for the most part I only had once or twice that the suction came off on the tile part thank goodness it didn’t lead to a better fall, but that always has to do with who’s using it how they’re using it, and whether the depending on all the weight to people on that Ice are more as a little bit of stability not putting your whole body weight pulling on it I don’t think it would support anyone and my dad was only about 92 . Pricey for something plastic and not permanent. If it had better suction I’d say this was a perfect product but it’s not. They are easy to lock and unlock. ... show more

These have very strong suction and seem to firmly attach. They do occasionally lose suction (once a month or so), so you should check them often to be sure they are still attached. The major flaw I have found is that the handle (the part you grab) is made of shiny hard plastic that is VERY slippery when you have wet hands. They really need to cover these with some type of non-slip material. An elderly person with wet hands, grabbing one of these when they’re losing their balance, would most likely lose their grip and fall. ... show more

Bought these for my aging mom's shower. Couldn't install regular handles because the fiberglass enclosure can't hold screws, and being able to reposition the handles for best effect is a big win. Ordered a set for myself, as I occasionally suffer from vertigo and need support in the shower. These are a godsend. The downside is the vacuum grip will lose friction with the shower enclosure which can cause the handle to slip under sideways or vertical load. They will remain attached, to a point, but in a panic grab, you might find that its starts to slip a bit if you put weight on it. The solution is to occasionally remove the handles and clean both the suction cups and the shower enclosure, as build up of soap residue, along with water, can act as a lubricant. ... show more
