Frequently asked questions

Shocktato is a thrilling party game where players pass the potato around in a circle or back and forth, trying to avoid getting shocked. It has three game modes: Normal, where music plays and the player holding the potato when the music stops gets a mild shock; Lame, where there's no shock, only music; and Extreme, where the shock comes randomly without any music as a warning. The game continues until there is one person left, who is declared the winner.

Yes, Shocktato is designed to be safe for children. However, it's recommended for teens and older due to the nature of the electric shock. It delivers a mild shock that is more surprising than painful, but adult supervision is advised for younger players to ensure they are comfortable with the game's concept.

Absolutely! Shocktato can be just as fun and entertaining with two players as it is with a group. In a two-player setting, participants simply pass the Shocktato back and forth, trying to avoid being the one holding it when the music stops and a shock is administered in Normal mode, or when the shock comes randomly in Extreme mode.

Yes, Shocktato requires batteries to operate, which are not included with the game. You will need to purchase 3 AAA batteries before you can start playing. Always make sure the batteries are properly installed according to the instructions manual for the game to function correctly.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

```
The Shockpotato game, a quirky and interactive toy, has garnered a lot of positive attention for bringing fun and laughter across various age groups. It features three modes, including one that is safe for younger children, making it a versatile choice for family gatherings or parties. Its shock, compared to a static shock, adds an element of suspense and hilarity to the game, although there's a note on its durability with some users experiencing short-lived functionality.
Pros
  • 🎉 Offers three modes for different comfort levels.
  • 😄 Great for all ages, from middle school students to adults.
  • 🎈 Enhances gatherings with fun and laughter.
  • ⚡ Shock is mild and comparable to a static shock, making it bearable yet thrilling.
Cons
  • ⏲️ Some reports of the game not lasting long, with issues of functionality over time.
  • 🔋 Requires your own batteries, which adds an extra step before use.
  • 🧐 No adjustable shock level to cater to different tolerances.
Should I Buy It?
If you’re looking for a unique, interactive game that brings laughter and excitement to both children and adults alike, the Shockpotato is worth considering. However, be mindful of its potential durability issues and the need for your own batteries. This could be a hit for occasional play rather than a long-term gaming option.
  • Sick and twisted game, but so hilarious
It's hard to entice people to want to play with it once you say the name, haha. I'm still very wary and apprehensive to touch it since I thought it was moderately painful. (I wound up throwing it in my fight-or-flight response.) My 9-yo son REFUSES to touch it, my 12-yo had one encounter where it didn't get her so bad, so the second time around "shocked" her (pun intended--she still pulls it out though to show her friends), but my 6-yo handles it fine, and so does my husband. Definitely a "player beware" game. (One of our dogs happened to come over and lick it at THE worst moment, and he got shocked in the face. He didn't like it either, but he was fine.) The music is EERIE and adds to the suspense. It gets you in 3 good shocks. There's a music-only "lame" mode with no shocks, normal mode with music+shocks, and then an extreme mode with no music and then a set of shocks whenever the dumb potato fancies it. (That's the mode I got shocked on after my husband handed it to me nonchalantly. I wasn't expecting it because we weren't playing with it, lol.) It can definitely be misused in the wrong hands, so either hope there's not a pyschopath in your party, or pretend like you're ALL psychopaths at a party, and you should be fine. 😆 ... show more
  • So much fun!!
This game was a hit with my family full of teens. It’s so fun to watch them use it and scream when they get shocked. I tried it myself and will say its enough to make you want to drop it! But it doesn’t hurt too bad. I’d say a great age is 7 and up. For Tougher kids. It was a great value and we can’t wait to keep playing. ... show more
  • Soooo much fun!
We played this on Christmas Eve and had so much fun and it’s well made because it hit the concrete several times. LOL
  • Want a shockingly fun game? YOU CONDUIT with this one.
This game is fun to play with our high school and college students. In the easy and medium modes, this game is light hearted and fun... but on extreme mode, this game is INSANE. I hate getting shocked, so the thrill on extreme mode of not having sound to cue you when you might get buzzed is downright scary. NOTES: * Durable / yet wonky: obviously, some people will be too scared to catch the potato before tossing it to the next person... as such, our potato has met the ground several times. I’ve noticed that it’s taken a beating on concrete and low pile rugs over hard floors at least 30 times up until this point.. but it still works... HOWEVER... occasionally when it hits the floor, the potato “resets” and you have to turn the potato on again and select the game mode. * Definitely not for children: there are age suggestions for this device, and for a good reason... the shocks can be a bit intense. I played with my 9 year old and she got zapped pretty bad to the point where she is extremely hesitant to play again. ... show more
  • Fun Toy for older kids and adults
Quality is better than I expected. Three play levels: two with electric shock. Auto shut off after no usage to save batteries. Easy to use.
  • Worth it
I don't know what's wrong with me but I really enjoy watching my friends and family get a little jolt. I gifted my nephew one for Christmas this year and my son last year. Very entertaining.
