Description

Sculpted from over a decade of engineering advancement and a rich lineage of predecessors, the new Vanford tests the boundaries of technology and engineering found in spinning reels. Built upon a CI4+ body for both a lightweight feel and carbon rigidity, the Vanford incorporates a MagnumLite (MGL) Rotor for up to 48% less rotational inertia than traditional rotor construction for a quick response in critical situations. The Vanford features Shimano’s cold-forged HAGANE Gear and many of Shimano’s premium technologies for increased fishing performance and years of durability. Vanford’s SilentDrive and MicroModule Gear II technologies combine to produce a new level of smooth rotational performance while reducing overall reel vibration. Vanford also incorporates Long Stroke Spool technology to increase casting distance while producing a smoother line lay on the spool during retrieval. X-Protect technology and water-channeling construction enhances Vanford’s water resistance and overall durability — an important feature for a reel sure to be found in inshore environments. From ice fishing and drop-shot fishing for smallies in the sweetwater to stalking tailing fish in the flats, the Vanford has no equal. A legend is born.

I own several Stratic C14’s and the Vanford 2500 is a nice addition! Smooth as silk and well made! I filled the spool a little less than halfway with 12lb mono and the rest with 15lb Berkley X9 and a 10lb fluorocarbon leader. Casts really well and a pleasure to use. Currently paired with a St. Croix 6’8” MH Mojo Bass Rod. Very pleased with this purchase! ... show more

This is the best feeling reel that I own. Oozes quality and feels like it will last - like a Lexus say. But I fish it back to back regularly with a Pflueger President XT, and I have to say that it's hard to justify that price tag! The Pflueger casts as well as the Vanford (maybe even better), but its retrieve is not quite as good (does not feel as direct, nor does it pick up as fast), both have excellent drag. I don't skimp on buying gear, and might buy another, but it's tempting to put the extra bucks into a better rod - say a St Croix Avid rather than a Premier. Hmm... ... show more

This is supposed to be a very good midrange/upper range reel. It's winter here in Maine so I've only just spooled it up. Initial observations though is that it's as well made and smooth reeling as I've been told. Looking forward to using it.

I like that it's adjustable for when you need to retrieve slowly or fast for the type of fishing your doing. it's also able to be used by right or left handed people. even the 3000 series is lighter than most other products. it also has a nice drag system and the bail is reinforced so it won't loosen over time. It's very versatile for all kinds of fishing and lightweight. It's also very durable it's been banged around and hasn't broke the bail yet. ... show more
