Selling things like this should be illegal. I'm an engineer and have a woodshop downstairs so I know how to put shelves together. I typically use those wire mesh shelves, but they're pretty expensive. I was looking for a cheaper option and am deeply regretting it now. This took about an hour to assemble and it's still not sturdy. These tabs need to go exactly in between the slots which is very difficult to do and even even when you get them like that it's not a great connection. On top of it the center brace is not angled and doesn't attach properly, so it just falls out. Horrendous. There's no way you can put a lot of weight on these. I was hoping the store tools on them and there's no way that's going to happen now. Putting this back in the box and shipping it back is not an option now either. Garbage. Do yourself a favor and just spend the extra 30 bucks to get those nice solid, cylindrical bar shelves! ... show more

I have like 10 sets of a much, much better version of this that I picked up from a local brick and mortar several years ago when I was organizing my basement to get things off the floor in case my sump pump died again. They work great and are solid, amazing things that cost the same that THESE cost. It was time to get three more sets, and I checked and the prices leaped up on those, so I thought I'd find something similar online for less. Well, these are similar, and they're less. They're a bit smaller but I knew that going into it. What I hadn't realized was just HOW cheap and flimsy these would be. I didn't need things to hold a ton of weight - these specifically are being used to hold about 400 or so Lego sets we have, with the rest staying on all the other shelving units downstairs. So with that use, these will work. Anything else, I likely would've returned two of the three sets I purchased unopened since they're just not worth the money... Assembly isn't that bad, just a pain getting the metal tabs in the slots sometimes - a slight bend usually resolves it. I'm not going tall on these, rather than four shelves high I'm building three sets that are double wide and only two shelves tall. With the cheap flimsy tin that the frames are made of, I wouldn't trust this four tall even with nothing heavier than Lego sets. So if you absolutely positively HAVE to have something, and you're not in a rush (took a while to ship) then these will work if you're dealing with light weight things to put on them. But if you want quality, something you know you can trust to hold something, I'd look elsewhere. ... show more

The shelves are thin and cheap particle board. There is no way it would hold those cases of drinks as shown on the photo! Plus they are difficult to put together and needed 2 and 3 people to do so. I purchased 3 but returned the one that was damaged. If you are using for light items, it’ll do.

    • Good shelving unit but takes work to assemble.

Overall, a good unit for the price. However, if you are not real adept with hand tools and assembly techniques, you are going to struggle putting this system together. I am an auto mechanic with 50+ years experience. Began the assembly and about 1/4 into it, had to disassemble and start again once I understood to process and technique. It took well over 1 1/2 hours to fully assemble and figure out shelf spacing. Once assembles, it is sturdy and fairly strong. I would not, however, put the weight on the shelves that the manufacturer indicated they could hold. This system is cheaper than buying wood and custom building. ... show more
