The Shelly dimmer was easy to install and had many more features for really complex needs. I inserted it in a magnetic led transformer to manage on/off and dimmer function through my Amazon interface. It works flawlessly. Directions are brief, but there are RSS streams and videos on automation that can assist one with whatever their need. We had a smart microwave that the light would automatically turn on at night and when we go rid of it and put in just a hood over our stove my wife wanted the light to come on automatically. This product worked beautifully. The wiring took a little bit of Google electrician to get right since it can be wired a few different ways and to make the switch still functional. Also it will set a passcode by default and it is hard to find what the default code is on the instructions but it is there. 0000 if you need.     • Physical Switch doesn't operate

Impossible to get the physical switch to work. I understand the position of the light switch may be changed due to someone turning on the switch, and later the light being switched off by the app, but the switch does not turn on the light, only off. Rewired the light 5x and could not get the physical switch to work, also tested a Shelly 1PM, same results. These are great if you want to rely on pure smart home control, but if you need a physical switch as well, may need to explore more. ... show more

I really wanted to like this thing, I really did. Installation wasn’t too hard, but after getting it installed, setup and configuration was a NIGHTMARE. There is no manual adjustment for dimming calibration, the app is kind of clunky and doesn’t make much sense, and to top it all off, if the lights are set to any less than 100% brightness, they flicker bad enough to make you turn them all the way off. I popped this one into a box to solve a lighting problem in my living room with some old ceiling fans and mirrored it to the zwave wall switch that was directly controlling the lights and I'm pretty happy with how well it's working. This fits perfectly inside the typical magnetic LED driver and dims an MR16 GU5.3 light admirably. YMMV depending on the MR16 but this one doesn't shut off until 12%. Will suit my needs.

    • Frustrating and Dangerous Little Connectors

I don't really know what market these are designed for but for all the hooplah they get I was surprised that the little wire connectors are so flimsy. Nearly impossible to connect to 12/14 gauge wire. I would go as far as to say these are unsafe in an American household simply due to the poor-quality connections. Although these are convenient to use (once "installed") I would never really trust their cheap little screws. It's a fire hazard and Shelly should be ashamed of themselves. ... show more
