I was looking for a solar power bank to support my CPAP, mini fridge and other basics when power goes out during storms, which happens a lot here on the east coast. I did a lot of homework and compared a huge number of options before deciding on this unit by Shell. I am glad I went with this unit. It is super sturdy, and after testing it on my various devices, it works exactly as stated. Everything is easy to understand and use (although white writing on yellow plastic makes the printed on labels nearly impossible to read. I modified it with my own printed labels). I really am SUPER happy with this purchase and feel more secure with this at my bedside. This is an excellent product. This rechargeable battery is rated at 585 watt hours. This is much more than any other battery in the same price range. I am an amateur astronomer, and I run three pieces of equipment off this battery at 115 volts. I was hoping this battery would last two hours running this equipment. It will run over 10 hours! Amazing. And the battery has numerous features. It will charge cell phones, run fans, low amperage heaters and small refrigerators. It also has ports for 12 volt DC power. Seems to be good however my 300 watt pack out preforms this one. Lasts longer then this one and half the power ?????

    • Charges fast
The unit has considerable storage capacity and easily ran a refrigerator and freezer during a power outage for about 20 hours. It recharges very fast, which can be quite helpful for an RV. Thus I will run the generator perhaps for a couple hours and then use this quiet power source for likely a week before I need to recharge it unless I need to use the AC unit. It has enough power to charge up my electric bike which takes a long time and I would not want to run the main generator just for that. The biggest problem is that the AC outlets are in a very awkward side panel with the switch. It is hard to use. Thus, it is going to be relatively hard to set up in a confined space in my RV.     • Nice Unit - Can work with a transfer switch (but..)
Firstly, I'm an electronics nerd, so bear with me! For this unit (SPS-2000-01), the PRO's are: Compact, lots of connections, latest battery technology, good metering (although a bit inaccurate), price per kWh is reasonable (approaching 50c/Wh with discounts). The CON's are: Metering reads low by 8-10%, doesn't shut down automatically even when no draw and no charge (this runs the battery down - very slowly). The AC outputs are floating and have no reference to a Neutral and do not provide a ground. This means that the unit MAY not work on certain modern devices that incorporate a ground fault detection into them. I bench-tested this unit (protected the outputs) in order to eventually wire it to my house circuits through a transfer switch. In this setup, I wired the floating neutral of the power bank to the house neutral, so just the hot lead is switched (this is what a Reliance switch does).. Works fine, HOWEVER, you may NOT leave the house AC charge input connected to the Power Bank if the Output Neutral is connection to the house neutral. It faults the unit. This probably because in your house the Neutral and Ground are bonded at the main house connection, so effectively you are grounding the Shell floating neutral to ground. This does work fine if you disconnect any input charging connection before connecting to your house loads! Users have reported the same limitation with other better-known Power Banks, so it's not unique to Shell. PS: When wired to the house Neutral (and thereby bonded to ground at your panel) via a transfer switch (with the charge connection limitation mentioned above), devices that include ground fault detection work fine when connected via the house outlet. Also, I tested output up to 1800 watts with no problem (except the slightly inaccurate metering!) ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I have waited to do a review on this solar generator. For starters, I have a Jackery 1000, Ecoflo river pro, Bluetti EB 55, and a couple other small units. I Purchased this unit to fill in a niche in between the bigger Jackery and the eco-flow river Pro. The shell item worked OK for a week, then I get a ⚠️ and code 6 error message. I followed all of the instructions to reset it. Later that day I receive a ⚠️ and code 4 for output low-voltage message. After this, I contacted the seller through Amazon with pictures of the issues. To make a long story short, Amazon made it right for me, and I really appreciate them for their assistance. As for this product, (and in my honest opinion), I would avoid it and take a look at the EcoFlow, Bluetti or Jackery comparable units. At only 66 W input, you'll be waiting a long time for it to charge up. There were only 29 reviews when I considered purchasing it, and that in itself should have been a red flag. Please understand, I am not bashing or slamming the unit. In my instance, it did not live up to my expectations. So in my opinion, it's not ready for prime time, and I cannot recommend it. ... show more

From my limited testing this product is exactly as described. I got about 1.7kwh running on battery, which is exactly what I would expect from a 2kwh battery. Charges at 1100 watts as described. Handled 2000 watt loads without issue. The UPS functionality was the primary selling point for me and it works great. Very smooth transition to battery and back without my PC losing power. I like the display. Outlets all work. The light is not too bright. No build quality issues that I could identify. I didn't test the solar input. ... show more
