ok. . . .I've owned the earlier version of this Shark Vertex Pro for 6 years (P50-IC162) for 6 years. . .loved it. Got an itch for something new, started shopping around on Amazon. I purchased three other similar vacuums, based on ratings and reviews. . .shipped them all right back for a refund. None were even comparable to my Shark. Finally decided to purchase this one, and it is the new and improved version of my original. It does NOT disappoint either! I LOVE it! If I started writing about all the reasons why, I could write a book. . .I'll try to condense by saying: 1) it has a little weight to it, so it is much easier to control your path as you vacuum (the others were so lightweight that they were constantly pivoting and I felt like I had to fight with them to keep them on track); 2) the suction is excellent 3) the collection cup is bigger than any of the other stick vacuums I purchased 4) the battery life is excellent; I have a 1200 square foot home and can vacuum every inch of floor in one shot without worrying about the battery running out 5) easy to put together and take apart; a single button to easily remove the debris cup, empty it and snap it back into place 6) when you're finished vacuuming, you definitely feel like your floors are clean 7) the versatility of the attachments make it easy to clean anything from the cobwebs on the ceiling to the crumbs on the floor and everything in between with ease. This model is similar in feel to a standard vacuum without the cord or the weight. My older vacuum is going to one of my sons, who is in need of a new vacuum. Truth be told, it works great and I had no reason to replace it other than wanting something new LOL. Lesson learned - you can't beat this Shark. It's a little more expensive than some of the highly rated stick vacuums on Amazon, but trust me. . .it's worth that extra money. In the end, it's all about how well it cleans. . .put it up against any other stick vacuum on Amazon. . .I promise you once you get your hands on this one, you'll see what I mean. We have been a Dyson vacuum family for over 15 years paying huge $$$ for a product that didn’t always live up to expectations. The last five years we’ve had a Dyson V6 & V8 cordless. Using one upstairs and one downstairs. Over the years suction repeatedly would get clogged. Canisters would require multiple trips to the trash to empty during cleaning because the canisters were so small. Battery life was less then optimal. Recently neither would work so I did my research. I even asked a friend who owns a cleaning business what she uses. She told me the only thing she uses is a corded shark vacuum. Well we love being cordless so I found this model. It arrived, assembled easily, charged quickly, and had amazing suction power for cleaning carpet and hard wood. I love that it stands upright on its own, has a removable battery, breaks down so it can be a stick vacuum for getting under low surfaces, has 3 times the size of a traditional cordless canister, has a canister that is detachable so I can vacuum stairs, furniture, and other crevices with attachments, and was affordable. The newest model of Dyson cordless was over $900 where this Shark cordless was $350. This is by far the more superior cordless vacuum. Don’t waste your time or money on any other cordless vacuum. The best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. It does a superb job cleaning. I don't care about battery life, I want the rugs cleaned, so I always use the boost mode; which is well named because it actually boots the power: variably. If you stop pushing it slows down the motor, saving battery power, and when you push it the motor speeds up. The top display showing 100% to 10% battery capacity is actually helpful; not a gimmick. Even on boost the vacuum is very quiet. The HEPA filter is priceless. For decades I've just been spraying the micron dust everywhere, but now you can see it accumulate in the collection cup; which you need to empty outside or it gets everywhere again. I find that I have to wash all the filters after cleaning the whole house because they look clogged, and it makes me feel like it's doing a much better job with very use. My first complaint is the little clip that holds the hose to the handle falls off all the time. The real complaint is that the release button for the handle is way too easy to bump and the whole handle just comes off from the rest of the unit, very annoying. See picture.     • Anti hair wrap works on the roller but not in the dust bin
The anti hair wrap works very well on the roller. However. once sucked into the dust bin, they wrap around a "stick" that's part of the dust bin and they wrap the dust along with them. So when I open the bottom to empty the dust, nothing comes out. I have to pull the hair out of the bin. Next time I'll probably use a scissor to cut the hair. I commend them for the anti hair wrap on the roller. But they need to redesign the dust bin to not have anything the hair can wrap on. Removing hair from the dust bin is still easier than removing hair from the roller on my old vacuum. ... show more
