I realized that my vacuum cleaner was not removing enough dirt from the area rugs, as they were full of dirt when I turned them over. It was time for a new vacuum cleaner. I had a number of things that I wanted from a vacuum cleaner. After spending several hours of research on the internet, I choose the Shark Stratos stick vacuum. It has been amazing. I wanted a light vacuum cleaner with a power cord, that would really get my floors clean, could handle long hair and pieces of yarn and would get under furniture. I got all of that in this vacuum cleaner. I can no longer haul a heavy vacuum cleaner upstairs. At less than 9 pounds, the Stratos is light and easy to carry upstairs. I did not want to deal with recharging a vacuum cleaner, as I didn't want to loose power in the middle of vacuuming. This vacuum cleaner has a 25 foot long power cord. Perfect. I have one indoor cat, who does not shed too much. However, I have long hair, and I tend to drop pieces of yarn ends on the floor from my knitting projects. The technology in this vacuum means that hair and yarn ends up in the dust canister and does not wind around the roller. Goodbye to the nasty chore of trying to remove hair and yarn from the roller. I guess that the most amazing thing about this vacuum cleaner is that it really sucks the dirt up. I have sucked up an unbelievable amount of dirt in the week or so since it arrived. I usually don't look forward to vacuuming, but I love to see all the dirt that ends up in the dust canister. I also hate that all that dirt was hiding in my carpets and rugs. I feel that my carpets and rugs are finally free of years of accumulated dirt. This vacuum slides under most furniture, including beds. I no longer have to get out an attachment to, hopefully, get dust bunnies from under the beds, or move furniture around. I should mention that the vacuum cleaner works equally well on area rugs, carpets and hardwood floor, all of which I have in my house. There is switch that allows you to chose bare floors or carpets. If you have some smaller mats, I suggest that you put one foot on them while vacuuming or the vacuum will try to suck them up. I am really happy with this vacuum cleaner. I have used it every day since I received it, but my house is a lot cleaner and I am a lot happier. Update: I have now used my Stratos for 5 months. I keep the filters clean and make sure it is well maintained. It still works great and I now enjoy vacuuming. ... show more

It's overall a really good and versatile stick vac, & though it is light the build quality is not flimsy. Really great suction & it gets right up to the wall. Does a wonderful job on my bedroom carpeting. It's great on the laminate on most of my floors, even picks up kitty litter that gets tracked. Easy to use, but it does keep me hopping to empty the bin but I guess all sticks have dinky dust bins. I have to be careful not to run over the cord, but I didn't want to have to worry about charging batteries. I do wish it would stand up on it's own, as I don't find removing the handheld power unit very convenient to remove to store. Like my old battered 12 year old duct taped Rotator Pro, it is noisy, but I think that's just Shark. ... show more

This vacuum is AMAZING! This vacuum unearthed dirt, dead skin, etc in our carpets that made it look like we had never vacuumed a single time in the 12 years we've lived in our house. (We've vacuumed about once a week and try to shampoo carpets 1x a month since we moved in for reference.) It's so easy to use and lightweight. I'm currently in a medical boot and using a knee scooter and was still able to use it! This thing is powerful. The first time I used it, I stupidly got to close to one of my husband's socks and it just sucked it right up. It did not damage the vacuum. Hair all over the house is no longer a problem! I and my 2 daughters all have long hair that most vacuums just can't seem to handle. A lot of vacuums are designed and work on pet hair but not long human hair. This vacuum delivers! Bare floor mode is a lifesaver! Cleans up loose kitty litter around the litter box easily. I can get right up to my base boards without having to get on my hands and knees. Great maneuverability! I have rheumatoid arthritis and being able to vacuum underneath my couches without getting on the floor or moving heavy furniture is a game changer during a flare up. My husband was able to get it in that small space between the kitchen floor and our bottom cabinets to clean! We haven't used the handheld mode a lot but it works really well when we have used it! My only criticisms: 1. When fully put together and upright, you have to lean it against something because it's so top heavy it WILL fall over. However it EASILY disassembles / collapses for storage. 2. When going from collapsed storage to putting it together upright and vice versa, the cord storage is a pain. It wraps around hooks like almost all other vacuums but because the cord is attached to the movable top, it can get tangled. We're still getting use to it, so it could be user stupidity in the way we're wrapping the cord. For reference, We (2 adults, 2 older kids) live in a 1100 sq ft house with 3 carpeted rooms, 3 people with long hair, a short hair dog, and medium coat cat. ... show more
