I’ve been using a upright for awhile and decided I missed having a canister vacuum. I decided to go with the Shark Canister Vacuum, and I made the right decision. This vacuum has the best suction of any canister vacuum that I’ve owned. It has three suction options/speeds. Low, medium, and max/high. The low setting is great when you need to vacuum rugs and you don’t want the vacuum sucking up the entire rug. The medium setting is great for bare floors and the high setting is good for that stubborn pile of debris that just doesn’t want to come up. This Shark Vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver around the house. I can pick the entire unit up with just one hand. The beater brush attachment has two speeds. Low, and high. Low is for bare floors and high is for carpet. This particular beater brush works great on my hard surface floors. I keep it on the low setting and it works great. This canister comes with three attachments. The electric beater brush, a crevice tool, and a upholstery brush. All work great. The cord is long at 25 ft, and is retractable at the push of a button. The vacuum sets on four caster wheels that swivel. This is a bagless machine so there are no messy bags to deal with. Just empty the dirt container with the push of a button and that’s it. Shark does recommend cleaning the filters about every two months. Overall this is a great machine to clean with. I find it easy to use and move around the house. We have earned several very high and vacuums over the years and I was tired of spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars every five years to replace a vacuum so I started doing research and kept coming up as a customer favorite. I purchased a Shark standup vacuum just a few weeks prior to this vacuum purchase. It was a very good vacuum, but unfortunately the cord was damaged and My Husband hadn’t replaced it so I got annoyed and bought another vacuum. We have three huskies, we can’t go without a vacuum. Here is what I love about this vacuum: 1. Capacity to hold dirt is really big. 2. I forgot what a luxury. The chord rewind is on these models of vacuums. No more cord mishaps because someone left it unwound near a puppy. 3. I love that I can take Off the dirt tank with one hand, so I can maneuver the trashcan and everything with the other other hand. 4. I love that you can take off the Powered floor roller With your foot, so I’m not constantly bending over to take it on and off as I get to another crevice stuffed with husky hair 5. At first I thought maybe the powered floor roller was a little too small, but the suction Power makes up for it, and you can fit us under so many pieces of furniture 6. The wand lays almost completely flat So I can fit it under a lot of furniture 7. I wasn’t sure about the variable suction option at first, but I use it all the time. The low suction with the hard floor Option allows me to vacuum even a bathmat. 8. I like that the powered floor roller still spins in the hard floor mode, just more gently. 9. The wand itself bends in half for more compact storage 10. The cord length is not bad and is definitely longer than the standup vacuum. I bought a few weeks prior. It could use maybe another 3 to 5 feet for homes that are open concept in your stretching further. What don’t like about this vacuum? 1. My only complaint about this vacuum is on occasion the hose will fold in half causing a high-pitched wine and no suction because where it attaches to the tank it does not spin like most wand vacuum with a tank do, To prevent this kind of pinching. It’s not a dealbreaker though, because there are so many positive about this vacuum. ... show more

I purchased this a couple months ago so have had time to become familiar with the vacuum. Suction is acceptable on both carpets and hardwood floors but not overwhelming. The bagless canister is smallish and really needs to be emptied after doing the entire house, a large 3 bedroom ranch. I usually clean the reusable filters after every other use. The power head as well as the canister are light and don't require a lot of effort to maneuver. The self retracting cord is of sufficient length. The vacuum is mostly plastic and not overly strong so it is difficult to predict if it will break with age and use. First impressions: I would probably buy this vacuum again. ... show more

Who knew? Unassuming little canister is way better than the upright. With a smaller head for better maneuverability in and out of tight spots, this canister vac features convenient power buttons right on the handle to quickly switch between hardwood and carpet modes. Retractable cord neatly pulls in so no tangled mess wound around a machine. The tools are ok, I don’t use them much. Long wand easily reaches cobwebs in corners- great for short people. Not too heavy to move around. However, like most canisters, it’s very Awkward cleaning stairs and feel it does only so-so cleaning on stairs because it can’t get into corners which is where the crevice tool comes in handy. Standing up the wand requires a little attention so it doesn’t fall over. The only thing I really dont like is when hair and debris winds around the inside cone of the dust cartridge and you needs tiny fingers to pull it out.
