It solved my and my partners sore back and neck. We bought an Ikea mattress that was supposed to be medium firm but it feels like is too hard. The topper solved the problem is soft and we been sleeping better. However the 4 star rating is due to the fact that after 2 weeks is already clumping and bunching in some sections so I assume I will have to replace it eventually. I hope not within the next year. The media could not be loaded. I don’t know about the cooling gel because of the fact that I use fleece sheets like those plush covers that are really fuzzy and furry my sheets are like that. So they’re meant to hold heat. I have a thing about fabrics and them touching my skin and so I’ve always had sheets like this. I can’t tell you that when I bought it I think it was only 80 bucks versus now it’s a lot more expensive but it is so comfortable. I’ve had it for about a year now and I just flipped it for the first time because it was getting a little flat. However, you’re supposed to flip them I did get a full size and it did not ever extend to the full size of my mattress. It’s about 2 inches short long ways and about a half an inch short from the side to side. They half an inch is easy to make it look like it fits because I can make it to where it’s a quarter inch on both sides but I hide the 2 inches that it is short long ways with my pillows so I guess it still works out, but I wish it would’ve been the size I ordered! Everybody said give it a day or two, but it’s been over a year and it’s still hasn’t got to the full size it’s supposed to be however i had a 2 inch one 40 buck memory foam mattress prior to this that got like 4.8 stars and this is 1 million times more comfortable! It did have a little smell to it when it came out of the package but that went away very fast. I should put in here I went through a depressive state from loosing my fiancé where I was constantly in bed for about four months out of the year, the only time I was out of bed was when I was at work so I would say this mattress has held up pretty good ! I have a lot of back problems! I’m 30 now, but when I was 17 years old, they said I had degenerative disc disease which runs in my family and I had three herniated discs from my car accident so I dealt with back pain for about a decade and a half now … this memory foam topper has helped so much!!!! ... show more

This is my review after 24 hours: the quality is great. This topper feels much more dense than my last one (which I think was Zinus brand). The topper "inflated" very quickly. I was able to sleep on it about 6 hours after I opened it. It feels very supportive - just the right amount of firm and softness. It contours very well to the body. I didn't find the smell to be that strong or unpleasant and I have a pretty sensitive nose. I just kept the window open in the room while it inflated. The best compliment I can give is that I no longer feel the hole in my mattress! As I replaced my old mattress topper with this one I discovered a hole my cat created Wolverine style that went straight through the mattress. I was debating about getting a new mattress but since I might move soon I took the advice of my friend and just duct taped the hole and put the topper over it. (I also put on a bamboo mattress protector to hold it in place and protect everything, which helps with slipping). It feels like I'm sleeping on a brand new mattress! I wake up sweating every night. I spent a lot of time going through reviews on these toppers that are suppose to cool. Every topper had mixed reviews so I went with this Serta 3” because it seemed to have more people saying it kept their temp regulated. It has sat for 24 hours . It is a full 3” and seems cool to the touch. Tonight will be the first night I sleep on it so I only gave 4 stars as I’m not sure if it will actually keep me cool or not. Hoping it does all it promises to do. Update: first night sleeping on the Serta topper. I found even though the topper was cool to the touch it did not keep me cool during the night. Still woke up sweating. Also it was advertised as medium firmness. This is not a medium firmness to me. Was way too soft. Not so soft that you get buried in it like some memory foam but definitely too soft for me. I still found myself tossing and turning because my back was aching due to the softness. I will give it one more night but I believe I will be returning this. I am changing my score to a 3 star as I do not believe it delivered what it advertised. Again comfort of a topper is a personal choice. If you like soft cushion and not worried about the cooling aspect this would be great for you. ... show more

We recently received a new mattress which is a little stiffer then our previous one. Bought this to make our mattress I little softer. Worked well. No more sore hips or shoulders. Its a little stiffer then the topper we had on our previous mattress.
