  • Product is ok, but feels like development has stalled and left several big annoyances unresolved.
Overall, I am reasonably satisfied with the entire product line, but have some significant gripes. I own one HT.wx, one HT.w, and four HT1 (Actually 3, but I'll get to it later). All connect to a G1 gateway. I like being able to get measurements from anywhere I go and overall the responsiveness is good. To some degree I can even tell what kind of activity is occurring inside a space because I can see how changes in temp and humidity correspond to certain activities, like opening the fridge door, turning on an AC, or even just having someone occupy a room. The web based dashboard (IF you have a G1 gateway! Big caveat!) is somewhat limited but useful, although if you want to see ALL of your sensors you need to use their BETA dashboard, which has been beta for far too long... But more about that below. Right out of the box I tested all sensors except for the HT.wx with 75% and 32% humidity packs. All except one HT.1 read a few ticks high on both tests after more than 60 hours, so no problem, easily adjusted them down by less than 2%, and now they all agreed. One HT1 however always read a few percent low on the 75% test and a few points high on the 32% test. Still within 2%, but the "calibration" allowed within the mobile app is not a true calibration, it's just a means of shifting the scale up or now. So in this case, it doesn't ACTUALLY recalibrate or do any sort of rescaling. If you set calibration for one end of the humidity scale, the other end will be that much more inaccurate. A second HT1 was so far out of spec (it is about 6% off) that when I reached out to support they promptly sent me a replacement after a brief discussion about my test results and what I did. So credit where credit is due, if you do your due diligence, they will take care of you. The new sensor works just fine, and now I have an extra HT1 that while it's not a great humidity sensor, it's still a perfect temp sensor. And let's be honest, for most casual applications, 7% off on the high or low end of humidity is probably not that critical if you just have one sitting in a random room. That does mean it still reads close to true in the 40's through 60's, which is common in many areas. If they just included a way to RESCALE the humidity calibration, you could at least potentially tune out this problem, but nooooo.... The sensor may still not be great, but it would be better than nothing. If I have an issue, it's with the high end HT.wx. This sensor too has a bit of a problem with humidity, where it reports a few ticks below 75% and a few ticks above 32%. So it too has a bit of a weak range. I expected more from a $90 sensor which allegedly boasts the highest level of accuracy. I also felt it was somewhat slow to respond to humidity changes too relative to my HT.w, which appears to be the best of the bunch. Why is their top-of-the-line sensor trumped in accuracy and responsiveness by their mid-tier unit? It's not terrible, and not so far out of spec that it's worth really hassling about, but it's annoying. It's not going to go in some mission critical application anyway. In regards to the G1 Gateway... it's almost invaluable. But the range seems worse than expected. Trying to position a single G1 in a home to monitor a bunch of scattered sensors has been more of a headache than I anticipated given the distance from gateway to sensors. Responsiveness to pick up sensors behind one or three walls even when less than 20 feet away is spotty at best. I think ideally I could see myself getting a second G1 and that would create enough of a coverage area to pick up all sensors, but ok, that's another $100. Occasionally when I fire up the mobile app when at home on the same wi-fi network as the G1, it will say that the device is offline and takes a few seconds (up to about 20) to reconnect to it. Annoying, but not deal breaking. I know my mesh wi-fi inside the house is strong and I have full coverage inside and out, so I don't know why the G1, which is less than 15 feet from the primary AP with a clear line of site to it, would have any issues like that. But again, not the worst issue. Overall regarding this product, it seems development is stagnant, like the developers have just lost interest in developing their product any further. The phone app only lets you look at the graph of a single device at a Time, so you can't do any comparisons from the app. That's... really annoying. You also can't set default views either, when you select a sensor to view the graph of, it always defaults to Hourly, which is generally not nearly as useful a view as Daily as the default view. As mentioned earlier, a way to actually recalibration/rescale the humidity sensor could possibly be a big help, but all you can do is "shift" the graph, which is not nearly as useful. Their beta dashboard which does let you see graphs for the higher end HT.w and HT.wx, well if you have a lot of sensors and are going into higher temps, the overlay just blocks the view of the graph (see attached image). You can shift the graph backwards, but not forwards, and there's no way to move that overlay unless you disable the view of some sensors from the dashboard. Seriously? Nobody on their dev team though to try and turn on a bunch of sensors to see this VERY OBVIOUS overlay flaw in their dashboard? You can hardly call this a beta dashboard anymore, since their primary dashboard states that the higher end sensors should be supported by November 2021. It's July 2022 now, guys. At least make more improvements and show us you still care about the product. ... show more

  • Neat little system
This is a neat little system. I initially was just curious how hot my attic gets and to see if it fluctuates with the AC on, to determine if theres any major leaks. I was looking at a simple wireless unit with a remote screen to put on the table. I came across this expensive little booger and liked how it tracked the temp history and could connect to the gateway. I also remembered a time where the garage freezer was left cracked open and lost hundreds of dollars of food. This could serve both of those purposes (for a pretty penny), so I decided to try it out. It works very well and can get notifications for the freezer if it gets too high of temp. I am very happy with it and will likely add more sensors to the mix over time. ... show more

  • Accurate and inexpensive device - great value!
OK- This has been a long time coming. I made sure that I operated these devices for almost 90 days before rendering an opinion- it's only fair. I purchased my SensorPush HPT.xw device in early February this year, and installed it a few days later. I had some questions about installation and settings, so I contacted the Customer Service Dept. My questions were completely answered and I even got additional information that proved valuable. I once again contacted then for a different reason and not only did the rep remember my earlier conversation, he solved the current problem on his end without any trouble. This is 100% customer commitment - in the Amazon tradition - something you will have a difficult time finding elsewhere. On to the device: I basically used a thick cable tie to attach the sensor to my air conditioner frame that extends onto a covered porch. This will of course, change as soon as the weather warms up! I made sure that the device was hanging in free air; would not be in direct sun; and also where it would be facing into the prevailing wind. The latter is important for accurate RH and DP readings. Pairing it with a Bluetooth smart device was a breeze. But, what was even better was setting it up with the SensorPush WiFi Bridge that allows me to access readings from virtually anywhere I have Internet connectivity. A simple cable to my router was all that was needed (aside from power) and I was connected in a matter of minutes. The range of the device to the Bridge is very respectable and should work in tha majority of installations. Also note that I have a second SensorPush device. I'm using the HT.w to keep tabs on my well water system in a stone cellar. This promptly alerts me if the temperature is nearing the freezing range. If I am not at home, the Bridge sends out the warning and I can act accordingly. Now for accuracy. I tested the devices by using professional grade mercury thermometers over a period of several days. Apart from the cold, I made sure to do this in the warmer temperatures we are having now. I found the accuracy to be within one degree either side of what the calibration thermometers indicated. No, they were not in the exact same spot- but close enough for most every application. I verified the DP and RH readings by comparing the sensor's data with that of a sling psychrometer that I repeatedly used over many days to verify the accuracy. Again, the differences were minimal- one or two degrees either side of the professional instrument. Fact may be that the sensor is more accurate due to the nature of using a wet bulb / dry bulb comparison chart. In any case, no one needs to be splitting hairs for these readings. The barometer proofing was a bit more complicated. I took the sensor and two temperature compensated, precision aneroid barometers to the local airport. All three were adjusted to the pressure on the tarmac. I then drove back home and mounted all three in the same spot. As expected the readings dropped by over one inch due to elevation. All three agreed and continue to agree right to the present time. I have since set the sensor to the "meteorological" option for sea level indication. I now have both station and sea level readings for my purposes. One note- barometric pressure is more a condition of trend rather than actual setting. If you are near accurate, the speed and amount of rise and fall of the pressure is the important data, not so much the precise reading. Comparing this to other weather station options available: At less than one hundred dollars, I find this to be a great bang for the buck. Simple to install and operate, with very good accuracy and tracking functions. What's needed now is an anemometer and rain gauge for those of us who rely on weather as an important factor of daily life. I have expressed this desire to SensorPush- so hopefully they will respond with some more excellent products. And by the way, replacement batteries are available right here on Amazon- no need to hunt. Just search for CR2477 and take your pic. These batteries are inexpensive and long lasting. ... show more
