    • Functionally wonderful, but wish the "talk" button was in the traditional spot on the side.

These have been great for kids to use and play with in the neighborhood and when camping. They're loud and clear and relatively easy to use. We took a star away just because the talk button is on the front/face of the walkie rather than on the side and because they require disposable batteries. Kids love to press the side to talk and do it without looking, and they can't do that with these. Small quibble, but kids are kids. ... show more

These are great. They have been dropped several times and still work and have not cracked. They are very sturdy. I live a couple miles from my granddaughter, and we can hear each other fine. We've been having a lot of fun with these.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my 4 year old for Christmas and let him open it early. It works great and the distance on it is amazing!!! I gave 3 stars because things got weird. During set up he hit the scan button and something come over it which sounded almost like a police radio or trucker radio, strange but switched back to our original channel. We were in the middle of making cookies when it kept making noise on its own. I thought nothing of it. But than, we started hearing other people! As a kids toy idk how safe that is and it was really scary for the both of us. Ringing like a house phone and talking of another mother and child. I got scared so turned them both off. When I turned it back on I could still hear them so I switched to channel two and walked out of the room. After about 5-7 minutes I hear the house phone ringing the walkies make (I don’t own a house phone) from the other room but this time no voice(s) on the other end. The instruction manual doesn’t say that this can/will happen, and complicated to understand on what each button does, etc.. This toy is fun and creative but buy with caution. I thought this would just be a kids thing with privacy. It’s like living in a horror movie where unexplained things happen. ... show more

I bought this for my grand nieces, who are 3. I have not yet given them this gift, but did put in batteries (what 3 year old wants to get a cool gift and then wait for batteries to make it work?!), and it turned on, so I'm hoping they work well!
