So I had never given any thought to needing a light bar over my computer monitor. After all, the monitor emits its own light. But the light bar made a bigger difference than I’d anticipated, and in fact, within a few hours of deploying it at work, two other people immediately noticed the difference and ordered ones for themselves. I work in the emergency department and share a computer monitor with multiple other physicians. Particularly on a night shift, it’s great to be able to turn off all the other lights in the room, but have a little extra light over the desk to read EKGs or to write notes. Each physician has had different preferences for color and level of light, which can be easily accommodated. I initially thought that the remote control was probably overkill, but as one of the physicians pointed out, having the remote control rather than buttons on the light itself meant less likelihood of accidentally poking the bar off its perch. The materials for the light and remote control look and feel absolutely premium. The light does not emit any noise, and the only downside is that having the screen illuminated better means that we can see all the extra dust on the screen that needs wiping off. :) There are only a handful of improvements that I could suggest for a future iteration of this light, though it would not keep me from buying it now. 1) I had trouble getting the light out of the package as there were no cut outs in the plastic to lift it out, and had to dump it upside down to get it out. 2) The light attaches to a counter weight by magnet, which works great. However, the counterweight has a rounded bottom. It seems to me that the counterweight could have a flat bottom so that I could mount the light over a sewing machine or other flat surface, and it would be great if one could fix the angle of the light with the base attached to the flat surface. 3) the light and remote control are both powered by the Type C cord. There is only one cord in the package, so if you need to charge the remote control, you’ll have to unplug the light to power the control. So it would be nice to have a dual headed charge cord to charge the remote as needed. Having said that, the remote came with some charge out of the box, and I have no idea yet how often it will need charging, so maybe this is not as much of an issue as I think. I often work late into the night & my home office is right across from my bedroom. The room light keeps my husband awake & my desk lamp doesn't adequately light my keyboard & the papers I'm using. This light is PERFECT!! One of the best office/computer accessories I've bought. Installation is easy & no permanent adhesive is used. It has a stylish rechargeable remote switch that fits in the palm of my hand; big enough to not get lost on my messy desk, but with a small footprint and non-slip bottom. Long press to turn on/off. Short press to cycle through 3 color temperatures. Rotate to dim/brighten. The light is unobtrusive and almost unnoticeable when mounted. You can easily angle it so it lights your desktop/keyboard without shining in your eyes. I have a lift desk with a lower keyboard position & this light can still be angled to light the keyboard but not glare in my eyes. The only negative is I wish it was a bit brighter (my personal preference is really bright lighting). However, this may be by design so it doesn't cause glare. Nice design. A little over 18" long it sits on top of my monitor nicely. I can change the angle easily and it just sits there. The remote is decent sized but takes a little getting use to. Believe it or not I would kind of like the remote to have a little more weight. I say that because on a smooth desk you go to rotate it for brightness and it is easy to spin the whole remote instead of just the top. If you press and rotate you mess with the color too. If I have it on a textured matt it does grip a little better making it easy but on the smooth desk it is easy to spin. The light is easy to cycle through a few color temperatures to pick the one you like. It gives a nice light down the front of the monitor and onto my desk. It allows me to kill other lights in the room while I am working and just have the work area lit up. I may get another one for my other monitor to balance it out more. You may call this a nitpick but the package could use a slight tweak. Everything was able to come out of the plastic insert but the light bar itself was a challenge for me to get it out. There was no finger grips. I essentially had to pull the plastic insert it was in out of the cardboard box and then bend the plastic and pull it away from the light bar. More work to do that than it was to assemble and put on top of my monitor. It is powered by USB C. I was able to use the cable to plug it into the back of my laptop dock and it worked great. Only downside is 1 cable to power the light bar, and no cable to charge the remote. That is ok, found my own USB C cable to charge the remote. I wonder what would happen if I left this powered all the time. All in all this is a very nice light bar for my monitor and I would buy it again. In fact I very well might. I want a little more time with it before I decide to buy another one. ... show more
