I've typically used Corsair RM gold series for custom PC builds and upgraded the cables. Their performance has always been very good, never a problem but more recently I ordered a new Corsair RM 1000x for a new build and received a used unit, that reeked and appeared of poor quality. It was returned along with the CableMod cables I'd purchased to go with it, after which I ordered the Seasonic Vertex and what a difference between good and exceptional. The Vertex is super quiet, has a small footprint and comes with premium cables. There's no need to upgrade the cables with the Vertex as they're easy to work with and have nice aesthetics. So far so good. Ultra quiet and cool to warm to the touch even at load. These are literally the best PSUs in the business. Everything else is more of a marketing gimmick than anything. So you will pay up for these but I believe it's worth it
