I had to get a new microwave and this is a perfect size that fits on my counter. Obviously, it's a lower wattage since it's smaller, but works for everything I need.     • Still pretty new, but works great
This oven heats food much faster than I expected from a 900W oven. Our old oven (manuf. in 1986) was a 1250W which took 2 minutes to heat 8 oz of water for tea; apparently it was worn out:) This one does it in 85 seconds. Some of the "quick cook" settings are almost useless, but the popcorn setting is perfect. For awhile, I was irritated because the turntable would always stop with my cup at the back of the oven with the handle turned away from me. I eventually figured out that it was because I was heating it up for 85 seconds. The turntable makes one full turn in 10 seconds, so I started setting the cup on the left side of the turntable so it will stop at the right side. A petty detail, I know, but when you put a cup in the microwave oven 10 times a day, it has an accumulative effect:) Another feature I like is that if I don't get my item out of the oven right away when it stops, the alarm will keep going off every minute or so. The oven is not very heavy, and so it would slide backward when pushing the door button. I put some rubber stick-on pads on its feet and now it stays put. ... show more

    • Loud Hum when starting
It's a robust little microwave oven, but does make a loud hum when you press Go. The hum is brief and fades off, but it's pretty prominent when everything else is muted. Also, cannot turn the clock off so it doesn't show the time, something we enjoyed on our previous oven so we didn't have to keep resetting it when the power went out. I bought this one because it was the only one its size that has 900 watts of power. It replaces one that I have had for over 12 years, which still functioned perfectly but was getting a bit crusty inside. It turned out that the new one and the old one are virtually identical except for updated controls and different brand names. ... show more

It's a microwave, it does what it is suppose to do. It's slightly smaller than the 0.9 cubic feet microwave it replaced. But very easy to set up and get it going. The heating power feels like a 900 watt microwave. The slick design is very nice. The microwave itself isn't that heavy. My only complaint that the colors are off compared to the pictures that are displayed on the product's page. I bought the Black With Stainless Steel Trim and in the pictures the outer covering is Stainless Steel color. The microwave I received has black outer covering color while the front trimmings are of Stainless Steel color. Not really a big deal but I really wanted the all Stainless Steel color microwave. I never bought a Westinghouse product before although I am aware of this brand, hopefully the quality stands up to my 5 star review. ... show more

    • This is not a great appliance and doesn't speak well for a great American ...
This is not a great appliance and doesn't speak well for a great American (???) institution -- i.e. Westinghouse. We bought this oven for our "new apartment" in a senior center where we have only a very small kitchenette with no cooking abilities (meals provided by the "Lodge"). We got it to serve primarily as a tool to reheat leftovers from the "in house" dining facility. It's apparently manufactured off shore (as are almost all appliances today) and the instruction manual that accompanies it is obviously written by someone with limited "English skills". The instructions regarding reheating are scant and difficult (read "impossible") to follow. For example they refer to the use of a "code" but there is no reference either within the instructions or on the control panel regarding what the "code" is. In order to try to make this useful to (for example to reheat a cup of coffee) we called the "Customer Satisfaction Center" as specified in the operating manual but after spending a fair amount of time with the technician on the other end and actually working through some trials that basically revealed he also was confused regarding the "code" part he admitted he wasn't going to be able to help and would have someone call who could help within the next 48 hours. Of course that never happened. Several days later we called again, spoke to someone else, and (unfortunately) repeated the same experience. Bottom line is we try to "muddle through" using the device for reheating and, to be honest, can even get it sometimes to do an OK job -- sometimes not. If it were not for the hassle of trying to return it we would but unfortunately we've discarded all of the original packaging, etc.so that'd be mess. So just be aware this isn't the best purchase if you plan to use it for this simple task. ... show more

    • Lasted 4.5 years before needing replacement
I’ve owned this microwave for 4-and-a-half years. It’s worked for what I needed. Pros: The price was good when I needed something budget friendly I paid $71 when I purchased it in 2016. It isn’t too big and fit where I needed it go when I didn’t have a lot of room. It heated things up which is all I needed it to do. Cons: After a year of using it it would occasionally make a small pop noise when I pressed start which worried me. Never had been and issue and it is uncommon but note worthy. After about 2 years the lines not in use on the time display began to be brighter making it hard to see the time or what numbers you pressed to run the microwave for. Also the clock runs slow sonit would lose a minute about every month so you’d have to keep updating the time. Last but not least, this microwave lasted for 4.5 years before it stopped working. Today it stopped heating things. It will run as if it’s working but nothing inside it is being heated. If you want a microwave that will last longer than 4-and-a-half years maybe look elsewhere. ... show more
