  • What Connection Problems?
I bought this after reading many reviews where people complained about the connections. Don't be distracted by those reviews. This is a handy little pump and getting it connected to accept a standard garden hose was a breeze. Either the negative reviews for this pump were from people who were trying to make some kind of oddball connection or from people who have zero ability to adapt to...well, anything probably. The suction and discharge ports on the pump are 1/2 inch connections, but you can easily find a 1/2 to 3/4 inch adapter at your local hardware store for about two dollars. I had no issues, as others have stated, with mismatched threads. My setup has a standard 5/8 inch (inside diameter) PVC hose connected to the filtered suction side (get rigid hose to keep it from collapsing on itself since it's the suction end), tightened with a standard hose clamp. The discharge of the pump has the 1/2" (female end) to 3/4" (male end) adapter that connects to a standard garden hose. For my purposes, I put the suction hose in a 60 gallon barrel to provide water to wash my RV (it's parked too far from the house to use a hose bib). The pump provides enough water pressure...comparable to what you'd get from your hose bib (outside faucet) on your house. As a note, if needed, you can also buy a 1/2" to 3/4" (female to female) adapter so you can hook up a garden hose to the suction side of the pump as well. I used this pump for about an hour to wash my RV. The motor runs hot, but that's to be expected under constant load. The internal pressure switch works well...switches on and off to supply the 45psi as needed. Bottom line...assuming the pump doesn't crap out on itself, it's definitely worth the money. ... show more

  • Nice Pump
Works great, just remember that distribution lines need to be a min. of 3/8" If there isn't enough flow it will pulse. I use it to irrigate my greenhouse from a water barrel. The small lines causes it to pulse, I will be adding another line back to the barrel to recirculate while adding flow. I'm sure this will cure it. ... show more

  • tough little pump
1. I have a network of 6 rain barrels that all drain into a low point barrel. The low point barrel feeds the suction side of the Sealflo 33. The pump has worked great. Sometimes the low point barrel has run dry thus we've have periods of inadvertently running the pump dry. Of course I keep an eye on my rain barrel system so that I can turn the pump off before my water supply runs out. The pump has always soldiered on despite my occasional lapses. 2. I run the pump in the shade so I have had no issue with overheating. 3. I use the pump for hand watering my garden. The purmp performs very well at providing enough of a consistent pressure for hand watering. In fact, in my situation the pump prevides more faucet pressure then our public water supply. TIP 1: On the pump suction side eliminate or at least reduce flexible hose of any kind. Otherwise, such hose will tend to collapse when the pump is switched on. TIP 2: On the pump's pressure side: Long lengths of flexible hose (at least 50 feet) (rubber or nylon hose, but NOT plastic) will serve the same function as a pressure tank - that is, the flexible "give" in the hose material will allow the pump to build pressure and then cycle off. Use of the faucet will relieve the pressure in the hoses. Once the inside pressure in the hoses drops, the pump will cycle on again. I think I have avoided the need for a pressure tank by my use of a long flexible hose that ends in the watering faucet. And, I do not have an issue with quick on/off cycles. Tip 3: As other reviewers have said, you might find it diffulcult to use the pump threads. I quickly gave up and just used short sections of cut off garden hose with hose clamps. Conclusion: The pump serves me well for hand watering with rain water that I pump from a network of rain barrels. ... show more

  • Great flow and quiet
I use this to pump hydroponic nutrient solution from 5 gallon buckets in my kitchen sink to totes that are about 50 feet away that sit on a shelf about 5 feet high. I am not particularly handy so I struggled to figure out how l to make it all work smoothly. My setup is: * Food grade tubing (45 psi working pressure) to connect to the pump. I have about 6 feet on the inlet that stick into the bucket. I had trouble finding the tubing but got this at a plumbing supply store Ferguson's. The manual says you should use a tube with 2xs the working pressure of the pump's psi but I am not doing that. The tube I have is not braided but is still very stiff and not easy to work with. I bought hose clamps from home Depot because the pump didn't include any. * Barb to male garden hose adapter - I got this from Amazon and connected the tube on the outlet to a $10 garden hose I got from Walmart. The hose is hard to deal with indoors so I'll be looking for something more flexible. * Female garden hose to male npt adapter, full port pipe shut-off valve, female to male garden hose adapter (from home depot) - I needed a shutoff valve at the end of the hose that would not increase the water pressure and come out too strong in the totes with the plants. So I needed a full port pipe valve to accomplish that. One issue is this pump is not a variable flow pump so if you restrict the flow it can cause the pump to cycle. This is mitigated by the 50 foot hose and a turn knob style shut-off valve so I was able to avoid an accumulator pump. I was able to adjust the pressure with an allen wrench by turning the screw in the front of the pump but turned out too far and it fell off. I thought it would stop when you get it to minimum pressure but it just falls off. So now, after screwing it back on, I have no way to know what the cutoff pressure is. There were no instructions on this with the pump. I had to leave a message for customer service and missed the return call and instructions were incomplete. The pump is pretty quiet until the water runs out on the inlet side. Since my pump isn't fastened down it's more probe to vibrations. I'm happy with the volume of the pump overall. It pumps fast and my totes full up in no time. This is saving me a ton of time and it's well worth it. I do wish it could get all of the water out of the 50 foot hose after the bucket is empty but even after letting it run dry for a bit, it is not powerful enough to empty the hose. It does get most of it but this makes cleanup a lot more work. Overall I am very happy with the pump and the setup. ... show more
