Update: Sea to Summit stands behind their products. The replacement has no smell at all. Previous review: The plate arrived quickly and in good condition except for one BIG problem. It has a horrible strong perfume smell. The other Sea to Summit items I purchased in the past never had this. Washing it helped a little, but even after washing it, it still smells so strong that it's annoying even from a few feet away. In addition, the item I set it on yesterday now smells also. It's been over 24 hours. I'm going to try baking soda, but if that doesn't work, I don't know what to do. There's no way I can eat from it. My husband couldn't even stand near the kitchen sink while the plate was in the sink because the smell was so irritating. ... show more

This and the other Sea to Summit X-Series items I purchased have worked great. In total I have the X-Plate, X-Bowl, Cool Touch X-Mug and X-Kettle. My deciding factor on THIS one was that the base can be used as a cutting board... Which was VERY convenient when cooking.

    • Nice plate, but expensive
I love this plate. But the price.... I haven't used it for camping. But it gets plenty of use at home and at work (yes, at work, our cafeteria only uses styrofoam containers for take out. I just can't abide.) It's served me well. The collapsible sides make it easy to slip into my bag. It cleans fairly easily, the creases in the collapsible portion mean you can't just rinse it, but we're still only talking a couple minutes to clean it off. And it's sturdy. What the other reviews have said about the bottom being like a cutting board is spot on. So I can't complain. But at 22 dollars it's just a little expensive. The Sea to Summit Delta gets the job done just as well at about half the price. If they were priced the same, I'd definitely pick this one. But if I had to pick between 2 of the Delta's, and one of these, the Delta wins out. If they ever go on sale I would be tempted to replace all my plates with these things. But for now I'll just cherish the one that I have. ... show more

Ok, don't laugh, we bought this for our little dog. She likes her food separated and with the edges up the food does not slide off. The Sea to Summit X-Plate is working out perfect! In fact we have been talking about buying couple more for us for picnics

    • Sturdy, easy to clean, and looks cool
I've only used them a few times so can't comment on durability, but I love these. They pack down nice and flat to easily fit in the pack. They clean up really well, even with a sauce based food like chili, it just seems to rinse and wipe off which is important on the trail.
