  • Perfect Small, cheap back up torch.
Package came in on expected delivery date, a good deal, seller shipped very timely.. It seems to be a cheaply made torch, however it has worked well in my experience so far heats up quartz fairly quick and is small so it doesn't takeup much room at all. The only bad thing is that the flame is small so it takes just a bit longer to heat up nails, etc, hints "micro torch"..Overall I would recommend this to anyone who needs a cheap torch just be gentle with it looks like it could be easy to break due to the levers etc being plastic, what do you expect for a torch under 20$ That being said if its used with care it should last quite a while. I've had mine a month and it is still functioning great! 3 year update….. the Piso igniter went out, but this thing still functions like new three years later I’ve honest, add half dozen torches go out between buying this one which was the very first one I ever bought until now all of them have died, except this one and one other one I have from the brand blazer which are expensive… I can without it out say this is the best small torch on the market ... show more

  • Remarkable for the price
I am surprised to still be using this torch several months after its arrival. This tool was ordered for a musical instrument repair shop and has been receiving daily use and abuse. There are several things I'd like to remark on : 1. Gas efficiency is decent. More impressively, it does not leak and holds gas for days. The fill valve does tend to spill gas during refilling, but otherwise the gas system is surprisingly usable. 2. Independent controls. I find myself reaching for this torch over my much more expensive Blazer for one particular reason: the controls. While many micro style torches have the gas flow (or size of the flame) interconnected with turning the torch on/off, this little beauty has an independent +/_ sliding switch on the side that regulates gas flow. Every time I ignite the torch, it's pre-adjusted to the flame size I need. Brilliant and convenient. 3. Safety switch. What rubbish... the rear safety switch will quickly become an irritant . Fortunately, an easy solution presents itself. I simply applied Loctite 'gel' type superglue to the bottom of the switch, held it in the 'off' position and it hasn't moved since. I'm hoping this torch continues to last . It may not meet the specific needs of every customer, but as for me I'm quite contented with the product. ... show more

  • Great little torch for the Price
Works well, refill upside down per instructions and has never misfired once. The little base is kind of useless. You couldn't glue it on because the refill hole is down there, so I put a little double sided tape to hold it in place. The stand functions well enough but it would stand up without it. I took off a star because it is cheap plastic and I don't expect it to last forever. But I think for most people's purposes this will do the job just fine. works perfect what I use it for* and creme brûlée (photo is freshly refilled at full blast) Quartz might not be as effective with Ti ... show more

  • Good quality product. Does not come filled, hence several false 1-star reviews.
I drive a semi truck in Northeast America, which means I deal with snowy driving. I purchased this item to fit easily in my toolbag to help with frozen brakes on trailers. This works fantastic for that! If you are buying for its intended application of food or anything else, it should function fine. I do like that it is able to be locked off, so it won't emit gas when it's piled in my bag with all my other tools. It feels like it's a good, quality build, and I've had no issues with it after almost a year. It's very easy to refill this with butane fluid too. Do note that it will not come filled (obviously this would be a shipping hazard), so as some reviews have posted one-star reviews, it is more the buyer's misunderstanding of what they were buying than the fact that this is a bad product. Know what you are buying before you give a bad review of a product! I would not hesitate to buy this again, or recommend to someone. ... show more

  • Cheaply constructed. "Self igniter" means no or dead ignitor. Amazon apparently doesn't take butane torches back.
After proper filling with butane, one can hear the gas flowing but no joy after dozens of ignition attempts. Unlike, say, "self driving" cars, self igniter (in the original description) either means "no igniter" or "DOA igniter." The current description is "built in ignition" -- but again it was dead on arrival. The current Amazon description is also misleading. There's the "built in ignition" model sold by Amazon at a lower price and the "pieizoelectric" versions sold by third parties at a higher price. Far as I know, any built in igniter is likely to be piezo. Why anyone would sell a modern butane torch at the price without a working igniter is a puzzle. It takes two hands to keep this on and adjust the flame. Apparently the third hand is to ignite it?? Anyhow, my old torch died after 15 years and was better built. The $9.99 Harbor Freight units with properly working ignition seem at least as well built. I specifically bought this from Amazon for the "security" they would handle any problems. But be warned - Amazon won't take this item back. My guess is because they can't guarantee that a torch partially filled with butane would end up in the mail. The problem, judging by reviews, is that you have maybe a 10-30% chance of getting a torch with an ignition that doesn't work -- and no way to return it. Why this torch has gotten so many good reviews is a mystery to me -- it does have a nice tiny flame if you manage to bring a match to it while operating the other controls. But then, take your hands off the "on" button and it's back to juggling torch and yourself as igniter. ... show more
