There are so many experiments in this kit! We started with the volcano and my 6yo loved it. He got to paint it (paint supplies included) and then we were able to make it 'erupt'. After he is done with it there are gemstones in it that he can mine away at. A lot of the experiments can be done more than once, and even more if you replace the supplies. I got this since I was going to babysit older kids with my two younger boys. It was definitely a hit for all ages. The older kids picked the experiments they wanted to do and I picked some for the younger kids. It does say 5 and up and I have a 3 year so you will need to supervise. Our younger kids loved the fizzy experiments as well as the snow ones. It's a great for a rainy day or if you need to be indoors. We definitely spent a few hours playing with it. this kit is very well organized. each activity has its own bag and some have things that are meant for more than one activity. it comes with a book that describes the experiments and the instructions for it. some are so simple and just require water, others are a little more 'advanced' (i say that loosely) and require a few more things/time. we love doing these activities together since it involves learning but we're also creating something and making memories. great kit, cant wait to do them all! ... show more

You really get a lot of bang for the buck with this kids scientific STEM experiment kit. I ordered it to do the experiments with my grandchildren when they visit. It is packed with interesting stuff, and will keep them busy for many hours, helping expand their understanding of the world around them while having fun, although I would definitely recommend adult supervision with many of the experiments, as they can be messy or complicated for children. They give a wide range of ages from 5 to 14, probably because the experiments vary so widely across 120 different fun projects, so younger children especially should be assisted with reading, measuring, understanding, etc. They give you a variety of typical basic lab tools and a lot of sturdy well-sealed packets containing materials used in the experiments, which is good because that way they don't spill easily or get mixed. You just want to make sure your kids and pets are safe. I don't know what all of the experiments involve yet, but one example from the past when my children were young is we grew crystals in water. We left them looking beautiful in the fish tank on a shelf, and one of our cats drank out of it and got poisoned. I'm sure these experiments, being designed for kids, are generally safe, but with science you still have to take precautions. But what a great huge comprehensive kit for exploring science in a fun way. This would make a nice unique gift for kids who like learning about science or would be useful for homeschooling. ... show more

The different experiments that are provided are laid out in easy to follow directions in the provided booklet. The experiments are not separated by packet, but each packet contains different items that can be used in different experiments. Careful letting the younger littles dive in, as there are dyes and a thumbtack in a few of the bags. The kit comes with 1 large measuring cup, 3 small measuring cups, a funnel, a tray, and a plastic bottle; which are reusable for different experiments, so washing and drying of some of the materials is necessary. Not all the items needed for the full number of the experiments are provided as some of the experiments laid out in the book are "Bonus Science Experiments" that use household items and food. In all this is a great set that provides a lot of quality learning time with nearly any age. At around twenty dollars, this kit is a great value. ... show more
