  • A Messy Good Time
I just bought this for my nephew's 5th birthday as he loves dinosaurs. The look of sheer excitement on his face as we prepared our excavation was 100% worth this purchase. As many others have warned and I failed to heed, this egg makes a HUGE mess, but it was an absolute blast as he chiseled each tiny dinosaur free from this egg and I carefully dusted away the remaining dirt. We continued for over an hour, in which he finally revealed his favorite dinosaur, the pterodactyl! 9 dinosaurs down, we finally stopped so he could save the rest for tomorrow to rescue with his dad. It was the best experience I have had so far with this little man and I will cherish it forever. I didn't read the instructions to notice that you could soak it in water to make it easier to get the dinosaurs out, but after I chiseled the first bits of egg away to reveal the first dinosaur, he wasted no time getting it out and moving on to the next. I personally feel it is a great activity to share and adds a good challenge to the experience. If you aren't a fan of having to clean up, then take it outside. We did this at the kitchen table on a disposable table clothe and anything that fell on the floor was easily vacuumed. ... show more

  • Dinosaur egg
Messy, messy, messy. Time consuming but child needs to be supervised.

  • Get it! You won't be disappointed
So I actually bought this for a young man who was turning nine and believe it or not out of all the gifts he got this was the one that he was the most excited about. This kid absolutely loves dinosaurs as do I and I thought this was the perfect addition to his collection because it was an actual fun activity as well as a toy. This kid, I'm not even kidding, rip this thing from the packaging took it outside and started beating it with a hammer. He did not follow the instructions he did not wait to soak it this kid destroyed it and picked all the dinosaurs out and all the kids that were at the party were helping him busted open and pull out the Dinos. However I do not recommend this method it did work out successfully for this initial attempt. I absolutely recommend this product and every single kid at the birthday party begged and begged their mom and dad for one just like it. So I'm pretty sure I'll be buying more. ... show more

  • Well…fun but a little hard for younger kids
My 5 year old really liked finding the dinosaurs but it was really hard for her to scrap the dirt away. I ended up having to do most of the work. My only complaint is I wish the dinosaurs were a little bigger, they are pretty small. There was a big part of the egg that didn’t have any dinosaurs because they were all crammed in the top of it. It does make a mess so I recommend doing it outside to save your house. ... show more

  • Hours of fun
I got this for my step grandson he likes dinosaurs. He likes to do stuff like this and digging and you know science stuff he played with us for a good two hours. We did it on the back deck and he loved it and he already asked he goes grandma B am I gonna get another one for Christmas next year? He loved it five stars for me. I bought this with my own money. ... show more

  • Fun!!!
Our kids had a blast discovering what was inside. The dinosaurs inside have held up well. We did this outside which I highly recommend.

  • Very hard, very messy
It was hard to dig out the dinosaur, time consuming. Dirty, dirty, dirty. I still have dirt I find, don't waste your time or your money. Don't gift this, it's big, compacted dirt with mini dinosaur in it. Not entertaining, more like a lot of work for very little. Egg shaped, not recommended for any age. ... show more

  • Very Fun but Messy
I highly recommend this for any child turning seven years old. Our grandson loved it. But, it is a 'one time use only' gift. The cheap little plastic dinosaurs are embedded in a removable and messy clay, and the dinosaurs are of no value and no interest for the child after that. Great project, though. Supervise on back patio, and be ready to wash patio off after child is done. It took him about 20 minutes to get all the dinosaurs out, and about 20 minutes or more to clean up the mess. ... show more
