Description

Scanpan Classic 12-1/2-Inch Glass Cover This clear lid for Scanpan Classic cookware is made of tempered, heat- and break- resistant glass that allows you to monitor the cooking process. The high dome shape sends juices back into the pot, and the large knob made of high-density phenolic resin is easily grasped with a potholder. As with the pot it fits, the lid is safe for use in an oven up to 500 degrees F, and for cleaning in the dishwasher. Scanpan makes replacement glass covers for all its nonstick, cast-aluminum cookware. In response to environmental concerns regarding nonstick finishes, Scanpan in 2007 introduced its Green Tek nonstick technology. Working with its suppliers, Scanpan is the first cookware company to completely eliminate the use of the harmful chemical PFOA from the entire process used to make its nonstick compound. The new PFOA-free nonstick finish is now found on all Scanpan Classic and Professional cookware. Scanpan covers its cast-aluminum cookware with a full lifetime warranty. --Ann Bieri

Really like how this fits my scanpan and another open pan that's only marginally smaller than the scanpan lid. I have run it through the dishwasher several times and so far it hasn't collected moisture where the knob connects. I purchased some universal lids that were disappointing. They didn't create a seal and if I used the back burners on my freestanding range it would bump against the back of the range. This lid solves that space problem and makes a better seal. The only snag is the size of the knob, it gets caught in the space dividers of the lid holder I use if I don't take them out just so. ... show more

I bought this lid as a replacement for glass lid for the 11" ScanPan that we purchased from Williams/Sonoma. For totally unexplainable reason, the original lid simply shattered while siting on top of the pan on a counter. I know that's hard to believe but we heard a noise, when to investigate, and found it completely shattered. We were heartbroken because this ScanPan is truly one of the best pieces of cookware we have EVER purchased. Williams/Sonoma no longer carries this pan. I can't imagine why. So, I did some searching, found this ScanPan Classic 11" Glass Cover, took a chance and bought it. I am overjoyed to report that this lid is a PERFECT FIT!!!!! If others have had the same experience and are looking for a replacement lid, do not hesitate. This one FITS!! I hope this helps... ... show more

The single greatest flaw with this design is that no sealing "O" ring is employed at the handle to glass interface. A high temperature (Viton) O-Ring combined with a remolded plastic interface to accommodate it would completely resolve this while adding very little to the cost. As things stand now, crude/moisture is retained, which mandates occasionally disassembly and cleaning, I expected more from Scanpan and now wonder if I'd have been better off purchasing a lower cost alternative. ... show more
