I just love Sara Miller designs. These make me a little happier every time I use them. I don't have a dishwasher and have to hand wash everything anyway but be aware that you shouldn't run these through a dishwasher. You also have to be careful handwashing, I use a wet paper towel when I clean but my husband used a scrub brush and the gold on one of the birds came off. ... show more

These 8 inch plates are simply lovely. When I initially looked at the four plates individually, I disliked the gray background plate’s color. But up front and personal it is delicate and as beautiful as the other three plates. The theme of this plate set, as you can see, is lovely birds. Graceful stylized birds. I bought this set for use as tea plates, along with a 2nd set of Portmeirion’s Sara Miller plates, Wildlife Dessert Plates , which are brighter colored. These are fine china. Not so delicate they can't be stacked, but the fine finish requires hand-washing. Also, they come in a box with round cardboard dividers. These plates are very pretty and I also ordered a teapot and some mugs to match. The first time I received a delivery of the plates, they weren't well padded inside the inner box so they had slid around and one had broken. These are really lovely, lovely plates. Even lovelier in person with bright vivid colors. Easily a 5-star purchase except for a couple concerns: 1 - The gray plate had clearly been displayed or exposed in some other way, so not brand new/unhandled. I had to thoroughly wash it with soapy water to remove the film on it. I was glad the gold moon on it was able to be cleaned and polished to it's original shin. 2 - The navy plate has some small bumps/imperfections glazed into the surface which makes me wonder if these were from the brands "outlet" store knowing the typical high quality of the brand. 3 - Disappointed to see these were manufactured in China as another reviewer mentioned. Not a total perfectionist so acceptable anyway. Considering another set so I'll have 8 for entertaining. ... show more

Gorgeous print and colors. Look fabulous on my velvet tablecloth and when mixed with crystal glasses and vases. I’ll be purchasing the whole collection for winter/spring parties. The plates are of a perfect size for cakes and deserts. The set arrived in a gift box and inside the plates were lined with thick paper in between.
