Top Amazon Reviews

  • *Edited review* I was wrong about saniderm
Size: 8x10 Inch (Pack of 3)
5 star review. I highly recommend this product as it helps give you a minimal maintenance way of healing your tattoo! I had to update my previous review. We all have been instructed to use this incorrectly and here's why. The artist just finished your tattoo, puts on the saniderm immediately then tells you to keep it on for 24 hours. After the first 24 hours you're instructed to take it off, clean the tattoo, let dry then add a new piece of saniderm and keep it on for up to 5 days. This is not the way. The reason being is due to the plasma build up. Excessive plasma will cause you to get irritation and/or infection. The proper way of using this product is once the artist is done, he can place that first piece of saniderm to protect you from bacteria til you get home. Once you're home, take off the saniderm (watch videos on proper removal to avoid damage to your new ink). Let air dry for 30 mins. Then wash with Antibacterial soap and use a healing ointment. I personally do not like ointments so I used Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion Non-Scented (blue bottle). I would wash and moisturize between 5-7 times that same day. Next day when you wake up. Wash your new tattoo with antibacterial soap. Make sure the area is 100% dry. Add saniderm at this time to protect your ink. Keep on for max of 5 days. If you notice you still have major leaking of plasma/ink under the saniderm, take it off completely and heal the tattoo the conventional way. Adding saniderm on the next day is the way!!! The reason is because you want your body to excrete all of the plasma first, you do not want to trap it under the saniderm. I did it both ways and the way I explained above has proved to yield the best results. I hope this helps anyone who's had trouble using this type of product in the past and developed a nasty rash or infection or anyone who's looking to try it out for the first time. Below is my original review. Mind you I wrote that review after following my artists direct instructions and also after receiving instruction directly from Saniderm 's YouTube videos. --------------------------- I got a tattoo on my inner forearm that spans from my wrist to bend of elbow. I bought this due to my tattoo artist wrapping me up in a Derm Shield just after he was done. I was advised to replace the wrap after 24 hours, so naturally I came to Amazon to search for Derm Shield. Unfortunately, all of the Derm Shield listings had a delivery time of over 7 days. So I looked for alternatives and came across this product. This product had a 4.6 out of 5.0 rating. Was cheaper and had same day/next day delivery options. After reading a few reviews, I decided to make the purchase. 20 hours later, I removed the original Derm Shield. Couldn't wait for 24 hours due to springing a leak and a bunch of ink, blood and plasma oozing out. I jumped in the shower and used Hustle Bubbles to wash up. I pat and air dried the tattoo. Then I placed the Saniderm on. 2 hours in with the new Saniderm in place and my wrist became exposed. The adhesive did not hold up more than 2 hours and it wasn't like I was working or using my hand/arm for much. It was Saturday so I was pretty much relaxing the entire day. Then after 10 hours or so of it being on my skin, it started to become uncomfortable around the bend of my arm and a rash started to appear. Since I placed the second layer of this bandage on my own, I figured I may have accidentally placed it on too tight. Figured that was the reason for discomfort. Figured it was my fault for the wrist area coming loose too. I told myself all this to justify why I was experiencing these issues. Well since I ran through the 3 sheets on the first order, I went ahead and placed a second order which came in next day. This time after removing the second wrap prematurely (24 hours), which should have remained on for 3-5 days, I had my girl help me. I immediately jumped in the shower to wash up and used Hustle Bubbles again. I got out, pat dry with clean paper towels and air dried. I had my girl place the 3rd wrap, which is the 2nd Saniderm wrap, and she did amazingly. At first I felt no discomfort. I thanked my girl all the way to the moon for helping me. Then, less than 6 hours go by and the wrap unravels and loosens at the wrist. I had to go to CVS to purchase the Tegaderm bandages, to help reseal my wrist. Which worked like a charm. However 12 hours or so with the Saniderm wrap on my arm and I'm feeling my skin burn. I can legit see my arm turning red on the non tatted areas where the Saniderm touched. The pain became so unbearable I couldn't even make a full 24 hours with the Saniderm before I decided to trash it and remove it completely. Btw, they claim you can workout and take light showers with the Saniderm. You can't. I went to work, which I work as a project manager in construction. I was not over exerting, as I mostly watch and manage. I was sweating and the sweat alone made the Saniderm loose and not stick. I did not have those issues with Derm Shield, I wish Amazon had Derm Shield on same-day/next day delivery back when I needed it. I do not recommend this product at all. It's garbage and would 0 star if I could. ... show more

  • An absolute must
Size: 8x10 Inch (Pack of 3)
I have been using second skin patches since they came out and they’re the best things ever to come out for tattoo healing. I have pretty much a full sleeve and it really has improved the life and quality of my tattoos. Saniderm, in my opinion, works the best. It sticks so well and is comfortable without feeling like it will fall off or peel in a few days of wear. I definitely recommend Saniderm to anyone looking to try second skin patches for their tattoos. ... show more

I love using Saniderm film on my new tattoos! It keeps my clothes from rubbing on the fresh ink. It keeps the wound clean and dry and most importantly- clean from bacteria!

If you like getting tattoo's this is something you need to have. I leave it on for 4-5 days and I can see that it heals the tattoo faster. Also it's water proof so you can shower with it and it keeps your tattoo clean. PS taking it off hurts depending on the area, recommended taking it off in the shower with warm water. ... show more

  • The best
Size: 8x10 Inch (Pack of 3)
This stuff is the BEST! I have had some tattoo artists put it on for me but never bought my own. I read the directions on the back and followed them, changing it after the first 24 hours and then again after the next 24 hours and then putting more on for as long as it would stay. I ended up keeping it on about five days (it said you can do up to seven). My tattoo healed BEAUTIFULLY without any itching or scabbing. Highly recommend and will defintely be buying again in the future Tip for removing: always do it in the shower, and pull on the sani derm along your body like you’re stretching it out rather than pulling away from your body. The stretch helps the adhesive come off so much easier and less painfully ... show more
