I bought this as "cold storage" for my MacBook Pro M1. My plan was to offshore files from my internal SSD whenever I was running low on space but wanted to keep handy access to movie files and other stuff that didn't rate prime real estate on my SSD. I kind of stopped using thumb drives like this one a while ago. So I was surprised by how slow it is compared to one of my external SSDs or a high-speed memory card. And that's 100% on me. I'm disappointed that big file transfers take so long, but that comes with putting this much storage in a package that's barely larger than a USB-A connector. And teensy size is important for the job I want it to perform. A Samsung 512 gig SSD wouldn't have cost much more than this, and it would have been immensely quicker. But unlike the SSD, the SanDisk thumb drive is so small that I can keep it in my wallet. It's always at hand when I want to watch a movie I downloaded weeks ago, or free up space on a device. I'm also a big fan of the dual USB-A/USB-C combo connectors. It moves easily from my MacBook to my desktop to my phone to my iPad. ... show more

I do a lot of computer work, and it's helped out tremendously! The size of it is very convenient to fit in the tiny pocket on the right size of my pants! It's also great when transferring data from a PC to a Mac, and vice versa! 128gb may seem like more than enough, but it helps in case of doing a quick backup for clients and transferring their files to another device! Excellent because it fits both ways: USB-C and regular USB, so that cuts down on toting around adapters. More importantly, have had soooo much trouble in the past with these types of storage/thumb/flash drives being finicky and just stop working or just stop being read by my MacBook or device. This one was great, still worked even if I managed to unplug it without properly ejecting - could also be software on my devices, but either way, this has performed flawlessly. Worked so well I grew lazy and complacent and was using this as my main work space - as opposed to backup - and then managed to bend and almost shatter it today. The USB-C part was visibly at an angle and even the plastic around the little socket part was bent and kind of ripped, too. Completely panicked because of course I hadn’t backed this one up in weeks. Got home, used the regular USB side to access my laptop, tried to bend back the other side since it looked crooked and was kind of jutting out, and lo and behold, I was able to access my files. Was incredible that the rest of the drive wasn’t damaged. Backed up everything. All files are readable. Now I’m ordering a replacement. Cannot sing it’s praises enough - saved my biscuit today. Super easy and convenient! Plugged it into my phone, went to my files, and moved them into the drive. Cleared my entire storage in less than 15 minutes. Thousands of photos and videos PLUS my husband's phone! The dual drive feature makes it easy to plug into my computer as well without a USB-C converter. Just plugs right into my regular old USB port. It’s so tiny I’m going to have a hard time not losing it. With that said, performance is great. Speed, connectivity and value are all as advertised. Yes, it does get hot when loading large files but show me a thumb drive that doesn’t. It gets hot but not hot enough you can’t touch it. lol. Jokes aside, it works. An hour after it was delivered, I transferred a MacOS & SSD backup (110GB) without issue. Read/write speeds performed as advertised.
