  • So far this is a great extractor!
I have had dozens of portable extractors over the years. So far this is a great extractor for the money. Heater: I give this 5 out of 5 stars. I heard some complaints about the temp being to low. The one I received puts out some hot water. I have only had one extractor that was warmer. It was so powerful that it blew out my outlets. So if you need it hotter I recommend a vapor steamer. Suction: 5 out of 5 stars. For a portable extractor it has plenty of suction. It’s not going to have the power of a 6 HP wet vac. This is due to the power needed for the pump, vacuum, and heater. If it had any more power you would need a 220V. Value: for the money it’s 5 out of 5 stars Quality: 5 out of 5 stars. It has heavy duty hoses and hardware. Overall the machine seems to be built well. Durability: I have not had this machine long enough to rate this. Customer service: Unknown ... show more

  • Water pump does not work
The unit looks well built however it was dead on arrival. Filled the unit with water, turned the pump on, squeezed the trigger and nothing. Checked the lines for clogs, tried the heater trick that another reviewer had success with but I cannot get this unit to work. Ive decided the return this unit for a refund instead of a replacement since this seems to be a common problem ... show more

  • Sandia 50-4000 Commercial Extractor with Heater
Sandia 50-4000 made in USA is a plus but support is a bust! I tried contacting the builder of these units and they where very stern to not answer any questions since I purchased from Amazon. It is very important that Amazon have an agreement with Sandia that if we as customers need to ask tech questions that we are excepted for answers. There should be a phone number and name of Dealer or builder so we can ask important information about this unit. I will give a list of problems, Pro and Cons of this Sandia Extractor 50-4000 Problems: 1) The book that came with this unit is very vague and setup is poorly written. I had to figure out for myself how to run machine in it's proper order so I won't cause damage to any component! 2) The pump would not run on start-up and I tried everything to get it to run but I found out that running the pump for three minutes continually can freeze up the motor. I walked away from running pump (trouble shooting) 15 minutes or longer so pump would cool down before I would try my next step. To be continued in cons list below. Pro: 1) The Construction was excellent inside and out, everything metal was made out of Stainless Steel, bronze, brass, and a solid outer body of heavy plastic. 2) Brass/Bronze quick disconnects that was recessed into the lower base of machine. Quick connect on both ends with blue high quality solution hose and corrugated black 1 1/2 inch flexible black hose. 3) Pump, heater, and vacuum are very good quality. a) Pump: Sprays good quantity of water through the nozzle to supply enough to clean your carpet, etc. b) Heater puts out 600 watts and I think if you had a 1000 watt heater you could run the unit continuously without water cooling down. But if you reposition yourself for another area then heater catches up almost right away and water is back to 200 degrees. Vacuum: Powerful vacuum not any problems here with suction, plenty of power and very heavily built. Cons: 1) New Sandia Extractor would not pump when I received the unit so I boxed it back up to send back to Amazon. I called Amazon and they had no problem returning this Extractor but I purchased the last one and I know it would be a while before I got a new replacement. So the next morning, I woke up and tried to find information on the Internet to solve my problem but found nothing. I had an idea that might fix this problem. I re-opened the box and put the extractor in the bath tub, filled the lower tank with water and lifted the intake hose at bottom of tank to try to eliminate any bubbles in hose but no bubbles cam out. I was about to give up once again but I tried another option. I turned on the heater for about three minutes and I heard the heater heating up and I decided to try the pump again and wow it worked. :-) I expect that a piece of plastic got jammed in the pump so it restricted the unit from operating properly but when the heater came on it melted the plastic so Extractor would pump again. The spray nozzle became clogged on handle so I removed it with crescent wrench and blew out the nozzle in reverse direction and could see sunshine through it after finished. (Don't put wire in nozzle hole or anything sharp for you will ruin the nozzle by such action. If you need to get loose stuff out after you blow with mouth or air pressure hose you can use cotton swab to clean loose material out.)Fired the Extractor up again and nozzle plug once again but on third try the nozzle was clear and operating properly. Conclusion: Sandia would have received 5 Stars from me if I was able to pull the unit out of the box and go to work without the headache of trouble shooting this unit myself, so 4 stars for now. I was very attracted to this machine because it was made in USA and free shipping. Construction is excellent and professional looking. I looked inside the machine mechanical area and all hoses and mechanical equipment was of top quality. Nothing looks cheap on this unit like you would get in China, Malaysia, India, etc. The suction hose does come from Mexico but looks of great quality also. I would buy this Sandia Extractor again but wish I had a better manual to read and phone numbers for Tech support from Sandia Dealership. I don't need flack from (Sandia Dealers)that I purchased from Amazon. Amazon please provide better support from your outlets so we can get support without any problems :-) Numbers I received from Amazon are no good and Sandia will not help me out when I need them most!!! I had to do it myself??? I will update as I detail my first car with this machine but I did try it out on my chairs and some carpet and it worked wonderful without any problems. Cleaned very nice and water was very hot and steamed as I used the unit :-) ... show more

  • Some assembly required.
Even after reading the three previous reviews that were so negative I took a chance and ordered this product. Not to a real surprise when it arrived I put water in it turned it on and no water. So why three stars? With 10 minutes of troubleshooting i found that if you removed the supply hose from the unit and manually overrode the quick coupler the water did flow quite well so I reconnected the supply hose to the unit and then disconnected the quick connect coupler from the tool end and did the same and no water. I then removed both quick connect couplers from the supply hose and found that the hose end near the unit had an obstruction that would not allow air to flow (I used an air compressor). After I cleared the obstruction using a 3/16" drill bit and drill the unit functioned perfectly. I purchased this unit for my employer to use to clean our fleet of 200+ vehicles. We have used it for 3 days and our vehicles are on the extreme end of dirty. It has preformed flawlessly and has surpassed my expectations as far as its ability to remove tough stains including oil, grease and lots of mud. So for that i give it three stars if they could get it to preform out of the box without having to fix a brand new piece of equipment I would give it five stars. ... show more
