I got this product because I wanted to carry it to go on walks with my daughter. It’s loud and easy to use. The color is very cute. It’s small and discreet. I bought pepper spray in the same color to carry with it. I believe it adds a degree of safety, but I still recommend being smart about where you walk, and don’t walk alone or in the dark if at all possible. Safety in numbers! Don’t get this product as your only “life saving” device. It’s loud, but not shockingly loud. It’s high pitched but I don’t think the sound carries very far. It’ll get dogs barking, though. The product is good, but I’ll tell you like I’ve taught me daughter, in a true life threatening situation, be prepared to beat someone’s azz or run for your life, whichever odds will be best for you, and make as much noise in the process as possible!!! But...if you accidentally catch something on it - the piece comes out* and sounds the alarm. Easy to push pin back in since it is attached to the unit so... you can't lose the pin.

This device is easy to use and hold. It is loud enough to draw attention to yourself if walking in neighborhoods or parking structures, but I am not certain of its usefulness outdoors/in the wilderness. It also, has a small light that can be used as you are walking to your car (in a parking structure) or down a darkened hallway/walkway. As others have noted, it adds a degree of safety, but you, first and foremost, have to be mindful of where you are and be smart about walking alone (regardless of time of day). This device will not save you from a real life threatening situation, but it will alert others around you and, possibly, by you time to get away to a safer (public) location or bring others to your location. ... show more

Update: The seller has informed me that the item I received may have been defective. I suggest trying it out for yourself. In theory, it's a good product. In practice, it will probably be more of a hinderance. It sounds like one of those UberEats bike alarms. Definitely not something that will catch a neighbor's or passersby's eyes.
