This system was easy to install and set up. I already had a few devices in the Eufy ecosystem, so adding these was a breeze. I was able to install the cameras in minutes (probably 10-15 minutes each), and after spending a few minutes tweaking the motion detection settings I was up and running. I am pleased with the camera quality and they work well at night and in low light conditions. Viewing the camera feeds with the app is simple and effective. The only unknown right now is battery life for the cameras, so we’ll have to see how that works out. The default configuration is to plug the HomeBase unit directly into your router via Ethernet cable (this is how I did it), but the manual does state that it is possible to connect it using WiFi if desired. This package is built around the HomeBase 2, which is the older version but it does the job. The storage is limited, and not expandable. I could definitely see myself upgrading to HomeBase 3 in the future if I need to increase my digital storage capacity but that is not a high priority for me right now. I’ve worked in the electronic security field for the past 7 years. I want to start by saying that, because I’ve seen some pretty advanced systems for big businesses, that I won’t mention here for security reasons. That should help validate this review for anyone who’s unsure about this product. Would this work for a multi billion dollar company? No. For your everyday household on the other hand, this product is incredible. No hassle install, loaded with features, and innovative (user friendly) application interface. IR - works beautifully at night. Quality is that of Axis cameras, which one of those cameras goes for about the price of this whole bundle itself in comparison. Video quality - crystal clear, even when streaming and not viewing recorded. Pro tip, if your stream is of bad quality, download a clip to compare. Sometimes it’s network related, and real time video is not a good indicator of how it actually records, because that’s dependent on bandwidth. That said, I haven’t noticed a difference between the two, which is a sign of good bandwidth and quality network hardware on these devices. Motion - I setup a motion mask on all cameras. I want to be notified, but not for cars going by. That said, I’m still tweaking the motion mask. This is the only area that’s given me any trouble, but I think it’s because I’m only allowed to make square shapes. I could be wrong, maybe you can make other shapes. I’ll update if I figure that out (only have created motion masks on mobile app, so need to try web app next to verify). No monthly fees - this is where Eufy has the market in my opinion. Have you ever heard of camera licensing? Well…every major VMS (video management system) company, that is reputable, charges a “license” fee (recurring charge) per camera channel. That adds up over time. The fact this was a one and done payment, and it has all of this functionality, really caught my eye. Now that I’ve tested, and can verify its quality, I’d recommend this system to anyone. Already have recommended it to my fellow security industry colleagues for their own homes. Well done Eufy! I have been very happy with this new security camera set so far. For a cheap base model set, it has impressive features. The signal to the cameras outside my house is strong from its basestation inside. The picture quality is clear and has sufficient resolution. The night vision also works well. The motion detection range is proportional to the camera height. At about 6.75 ft height the detection distance is about 10.75 ft and at 8.25 ft height the detection distance is about 12 ft (diagonal distance). The camera sees further than this, naturally, but these ranges are those necessary to trigger the camera to record. Outside this range motion is not detected. It also distinguishes between people and animals. My cats don't trigger it, which is nice. The alarm option on detection is loud and will definately get attention. It's probably something most people will not want on most of the time because you don't want a burgler alarm going off for UPS or Amazon deliveries. The ability to speak through the cameras is also nice (has about a 1 second delay). Be careful charging the cameras. You definitely should use a high amperage USB charger (2 A). They will take unacceptably long to charge on a lower amperage plugin (like a USB charging port on a surge protector). Another minor annoyance charging is that the micro-USB charging port is recessed on the bottom of the camera and covered with a flap (to prevent water getting it). The recessed hole on the camera is smaller than the dimensions of the plastic surrounding the male end of most mini-USB charging cables so finding cables that will fit might be problematic when charging multiple cameras. It only comes with 1 cable. I had 3 others in my cable drawer and only 1 would fit. The app is easy to use and intuitive and makes the setup straightforward.
