  • Worked for Alienware alpha mini desktop computer
Size: 1-pack
I was worried at first that I had ordered the wrong one since at first the alpha did not initially start up, but after forcing a shutdown and waiting for a bit before starting it up again, it started and booted up!

  • Works great
Size: 1-pack
I was worried about this being compatible with my system and had low expectations. Sure enough it was the perfect replacement to get my baby back up and running. Packaged well and arrived quickly. Wiring and the clip seems to be of good quality. They included double-sided sticky so you can secure it exactly where it needs to be. Cool beans ... show more

Replaced the battery in an old Alienware Alpha machine and it works! Seems to be doing just fine; will update this review if necessary.

  • Fixed My Alienware Steam Machine; No More Yellow Light of Death
Size: 1-pack
Purchased this to fix the "Yellow Light of Death" issue that plagues the vast majority of Alienware Steam Machines. While tearing down the Steam Machine itself was a bit of a hassle (the CMOS battery is located underneath the motherboard, making for a very through process), installing the CMOS battery was a cinch. Simply pull out the old battery, plug in the new one, and apply the sticky material provided to stick the new battery to the bottom of the motherboard. The first time you start it up after changing batteries it will likely still give you the Yellow light, but unplugging it and power draining it by holding the power button for 1 minute fixes that. Before I'd get a Yellow Light every time I turned on the system. Now it's been about 3 months since I replaced the battery and I haven't experienced a single Yellow Light of Death since. I haven't found a single review, guide or forum that has definitively stated, "Yes, this is a permanent fix to the problem. You will never have this issue again after replacing the CMOS battery." I too cannot give a definitive answer, as it has only been 3 months since I installed the replacement. But I can assure you that the issue is definitely the CMOS battery and that replacing it with this one does fix the issue. As long as there's nothing defective with how the motherboard interacts with the battery, it should in theory provide a permanent fix. I promise to update this review if the issue ever returns. ... show more

  • New Battery fixed the 'Five Yellow Flashes" Issue
Size: 1-pack
Roommate has an Alienware Alpha, and it wouldn't boot one day. Instead, the power button flashed yellow five times. This means that the CMOS battery is failing or has failed. This battery was a direct replacement, and the connector was also correct. The battery is on the bottom of the motherboard, so you have to take everything apart to get to it. If you're not familiar with taking computers apart, you may want to have someone else help you. I personally found it an easy job, but it took a little while to figure out how to take everything apart. However, be aware that the replacement battery may not be charged when you get it. This is not a defect in the battery, CMOS batteries are rechargeable. Just leave the computer off but plugged in, and let it sit for a couple of hours so the CMOS battery can charge. Afterwards, you may have to turn the computer on and off a couple times before it will boot correctly. Now, when the old CMOS battery dies it loses some settings; you'll get a message on the screen when you boot for the first time with the new battery. Follow the instructions on the screen to get into the settings menu. All you need to do is set the day and time, ignore all the other settings. At the bottom of the screen, it will tell you what keys to press to make the changes. Save and Restart, and you're done. ... show more

  • Does what it needs to do
Size: 1-pack
Does what it needs to do right out of the little ziplock bag. Overpriced for sure, but saves you the trouble of having to unsolder and resolder the leads to a new battery. It fixes the yellow light loop on the R1

  • Worked as expected, brought my Alpha back from the dreaded yellow flash.
Size: 1-pack
Headline says it all. Alienware Alpha that suddenly upon a reboot went to the dreaded yellow flash, usually meaning a dead CMOS battery. I tried to solder my own to see if I could get it to work, but these use a wire with a metal strip that is mechanically bonded to the battery. Crappy design that really was unnecessary on Alienware's part, in addition to the fact that it's on the bottom of the motherboard in a box that is generally otherwise a great design win and still going strong 5 years later after some modest upgrades over time. It's literally the only thing that requires an entire disassembly of the machine to get to, and for no good reason. Anyhow, the replacement seems to work great and I guess if I get 3-4 more years out of the machine, even the pain of installing it will mostly be forgotten. Only wish it hadn't take almost a week to get to me, but that's probably the post office's problem as it was shipped promptly. ... show more
