This is a review of the IMUTO set of Rechargeable Li-ion AAA batteries and the USB-C powered Fast Charger. This product consists of eight (8) rechargeable AAA-sized batteries, a fast-charger that can accept and recharge all eight batteries simultaneously, a USB-A to USB-C charging cord, and a User Manual printed in four languages (English, German, Spanish, and Chinese). The batteries in this set utilize lithium-ion chemistry that will allow them to go through 1600 recharging cycles before needing replacement, thus eliminating much waste associated with common alkaline or carbon-zinc chemistry legacy batteries. The stated electrical specifications of the batteries are 1.5 Volts and an energy rating of 1300 milliwatt-hours (mWh). This leads to a calculated energy capacity of 867 milliamp-hours (mAh). The energy rating and the calculated energy capacity are amongst the highest of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries available on Amazon and are even higher than the values for the best rechargeable AAA Nickle Metal Hydride (NiMH) chemistry batteries. The fast-charger accepts a USB-C input and the User Manual states that the power input to the Fast Charger should be 5.0 volts @ 3 amps. This is the normal output of the original USB wall charger blocks. Please note that most of the USB chargers that conform to the newer Quick Charge (QC) or Power Delivery (PD) charging protocols are backwardly compatible and will automatically step-down to the required legacy charging protocol if they do not detect the required circuitry for QC or PD protocols to be invoked. When I received the product, I connected the Fast Charger to a USB-C charger. The Fast Charger immediately began a self-test process. After about fifteen seconds, the Fast Charger began to charge the eight batteries contained within the Fast Charger. The eight batteries took a little over an hour to fully charge. After charging, I tested several of the batteries in some commonly used electronic devices I have including a flashlight, several remote controls, and a radio. All of the devices worked properly. The flashlight operated at its normal brightness when fresh batteries are installed. The radio worked properly and produced sound at a normal, expected volume. I like these batteries because they have a very low internal self-discharge rate, which means they do not just go dead in a couple of months like what happens with some alkaline-chemistry batteries. I also like that the lithium-ion chemistry allow a constant-voltage output of 1.5 volts until the battery capacity is nearly consumed. I also like the Fast Charger supplied with this set because it can charge up to eight batteries, all at the same time, but each battery is analyzed and charged individually so that no single battery may be overcharged or damaged. I also like that the Fast Charger can detect and report when a battery being recharged is damaged or defective and must be replaced by the display of a red light instead of the green light displayed when the battery is charging or the charging has completed. Most of all, I like that I will not be throwing so many depleted alkaline batteries into the trash on a regular basis. Special Note: On the battery’s external covering, each battery is identified as “AA Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery” and as “Model AA361”. In fact, the batteries follow the AAA battery dimensions. That said, the batteries are also identified on the battery’s external covering with a large “AAA” label in gold-colored letters. The manufacturer should address this issue. ... show more

This little kit of AA rechargeable batteries works great. This form factor is excellent, and really makes the batteries easy to use. The box works great for storage and for charging. And, I really like being able to just plug the box into any USB-C cable, which we all have laying about. The box gives a clear indication if a battery isn't charging, like if it's upside, and also warns if the wrong type of battery is installed. (Apparently this is for the rechargeable lithium only). It does this on an individual battery basis, too, so you know which one is the problem. When the charging is complete, it shows a solid green light, so I know that it's ready to go. The batteries themselves are a generation ahead of the rechargeable NiMh batteries that I'd been using in the past. These new ones have at least 50% greater capacity. Plus, they work at 1.5 volts rather than NiMh's 1.3 volts. This can have a big impact on devices that are expecting 1.5 volts, like what disposables provide. For example, the battery capacity meters on my photo equipment always show as being near empty when using NiMh, even when the NiMh battery is full. In some cases, they won't even turn on. That's not a concern with the lithium rechargeable like this new kit. Plus, these lithiums can be charged twice as fast as the NiMh ones. This whole box will charge at around 7.2 watts, around 0.9 watts each, while my NiMh batteries charge at just 250 mAh, or around 0.45 watts. ... show more

    • Compact and convenient charger
I've been gradually transitioning from disposable batteries to rechargeables (NiMH or Lithium) wherever possible. No matter which brand of disposable battery I buy, it will inevitably leak, even if it is still powering the device satisfactorily. So when these imuto rechargeable AAA batteries with charger were recently offered as a Vine promotion, I decided to try them. I am pleased with the results so far. The charger is compact and easy to use, and I like that it doubles as a storage case. The LED indicator on the top of the unit is simple and effective. I like that it lets me see charging status or if there is a problem. The first time I used it, the green LED for one of the batteries did not illuminate. I swapped the location of the questionable battery, and all LEDs lit up as expected. I am currently using imuto rechargeable AAA batteries in TV remotes and toys, and they are functioning perfectly. As some other reviewers have noted, the one drawback with this charger and 8 batteries is the limitation that other brands of batteries cannot be used with the charger and vice versa. ... show more
