    • WOW! Great vac.

I’ve only had this vacuum for a few days. However, I can’t really say enough good things about it. I’ve had MANY of these robot vacuum cleaners since they first came out starting at least 15 years ago with the very first, original ones, as well as some extremely cheap models, and some very popular mid-priced models. This one leaves them all in the dust. My main problem with almost all of the others was that they seem to struggle getting over thresholds, and especially with transitioning from a hardwood floor up onto a very thick carpet. This one had no problem with that at all. Further, this one seems to be able to pick up little tiny bits of paper, crumbs or unidentified pieces of dirt which the others were prone to leaving behind. This vac paired very easily with Alexa and Siri so all I have to do is to tell one of “the girls” to start the vacuum every morning. I love the pattern that it uses to clean. It seems to go across the room once horizontally, and then once vertically. In the carpeted rooms, this leaves nice straight lines as opposed to the crazy mishmash of tracks that the others have created. I also love, love, love the self emptying feature (although I do admit that I did like seeing all the yuck that the others picked up — please don’t judge me. However, I guess I’ll trade off that little bit of joy for the convenience of not having to dump the gunk every day). It also doesn’t seem to bang into furniture and walls nearly as much nor as badly as the other vacs have. In addition, this one seems to go over each room two times and then it moves on. The others would all just continue to clean until the battery ran low whether the room needed it or not. That means that the cleaning could go on for well over 90 minutes. Finally, when it’s time for it to return to the docking station, the Roborock goes right to it. The others all seem to wander around in a confused state looking for the docking station. Thpugh they would eventually find it, they would often take a very circuitous route to get there meaning that I always had to keep an eye on it to make sure that it didn’t get lost under a couch, bed or some other piece of heavy furniture. Even though a bit pricey, I think I might get a second one for upstairs. The current upstairs one (a different, very popular, highly rated vac) that I currently have up there and which I thought was my favorite one, seems to have developed dementia despite the fact that it’s only about 2 1/2 years old. It keeps thinking that it’s falling over an edge when it’s not, it sometimes seems to get hung up in the middle of a room for no reason at all, and it will sometimes clean one room 15 times over but will refuse to do another room unless I lock it in there. It is also very inconsistent about whether or not it is able to cross certain thresholds and/or make the transition from the hardwood floor to the plush carpet, but then, conversely, seems hell-bent on climbing up onto things that had a low base, such as a fan with a base stand.     • Update Dec 2024… Error 1 Lidar message- Great vacuum particularly with pet hair -

Update Dec 2024: Keep getting error 1 message which has to do with the Lidar turret being dirty or something jammed and preventing it from swiveling freely ( hair or debris). Cleaned it as best I could, even vacuumed the area with a hand held vacuum. Still giving me this error 1 message. Major issue as Error 1 prevents the vacuum from working at all. So I go on Youtube where they have videos on how to access certain parts of the roborock to clean them in depth. Turns out the Lidar turret is a very easy thing to access and clean on all the models BEFORE the Q5+. The previous models can have their cover taken off easily and Lidar accessed via just a few screws to clean thoroughly. There are no videos on how to do this with The Q5+ because there is no way to take the top cover off !! So now I have a useless vacuum that doesn’t work just because Roborock has decided to adopt the ‘planned obsolescence’ approach. I would not buy from them again just because of this issue unless they make all parts of the machine accessible to clean properly once again in their newer models. Writing this after 1.5 years of use Nov 2024. After reading reviews I went with this vacuum in 2023. I read how this was a more powerful vacuum good for pet hair and that while being a bit more noisy that it did a great job on that front and with bigger debris. 100 % agree with this. I don’t mind it being a bit louder if this means it does a good job. I mostly use it on tile and it does great. It automatically changes to a more powerful suction when going over a carpeted or thicker surface. It’s so powerful it sucks up socks and entire apple phone charger cables. It will actually keep running and still vacuum with those stuck inside ! It just goes on constant powerful mode and so that is the indicator to flip it over and check. The one grievance is that in Aug/Sept ‘24 somehow it stopped being connected to the internet and no longer worked through the Roborock App with the Z With no warning, explanation or notification email from the manufacturer.. (This was the app that was instructed to use at set up.) It would just not connect to the wifi network no matter what I tried , I tried every trouble shooting tip the internet suggested. So it’s been running fine in manual mode but I couldn’t control it from the app or see any maps etc. After going through the online manual in search of more answers. I noticed they mentioned something about Xiomi Home app so I downloaded it and proceeded to add the roborock to that, following the prompts. Low and behold it worked and had my house map saved on there and everything!! So anyone with a Roborock Q5 + having internet connectivity problems, this may be a helpful tip! I just wish they had been better on the communication with this update. Other than that it’s been 1.5 years of ownership and it’s been great. At times the mapping gets finnicky but you just have to let it go back to the dock and after a few times it updates the map. I bought the reusable dust bags with zipper to avoid too much waste. Also bought replacement roller brush and feeler brush to have on hand when they need replacing. both items are easy to find on amazon. All in all, if they continue to upgrade the software and apps, the full functionality will last a long time! ... show more

Look and looked... lots of doubts about usefulness. Roborock Q5+ crushed it. Works really well, no issue with app on phone, WIFI connect, this saves you time --- you'll vacuum more often. I have 3 levels and a map for each --- doesn't fall -- at stairs - knows where map boundaries are set --- a tweaking to kick off. Easy to clean -- bought back up supplies, etc seemed reasonable. I did not want to add unnecessarily to the dump. I take some need nose pliers -- pull out most wadded carpet fiber --- spray bug dust in the bag --- incase of fleas --- no problems --- when it shows wear and tear (so far not at all) I have supplies. Love that bag collector has a face - cover to seal up when it and out. Rollers come out easily and clean up well... After the research this was the ONE to BUY. Happy and I am picky. Went on vaction 3+ weeks --- WFI connection wasn't working. For me the simple fix was to initiate start up --- used the QR code on Bot and make sure every thing is on same band. Not difficult --- happened only once in months and months. And my WIFI provider goes up and down,,, This saves me time --- the price is well worth it. Established brand. Highest Recommendation!! The battery life, mapping, and app are all great! Love that it self empties. Picks up dog hair and daily crumbs. Fits under some of my furniture to clean which is great. However, it is LOUD. I would say 3x as loud as a robot shark vacuum I had. Loud enough the kids will come down stairs and complain. I am happy with my purchase though since it works well. ... show more
