  • WOW! Absolutely amazing and truly lifestyle changing
Size: Q5 Pro+
I absolutely LOVE this robovac. I held off on buying a robovac for quite a while since I had a very good Samsung upright vac, but decided to give this a try after getting tired of vacuuming up hair all day. I am so glad I did - this has totally changed my life and made keeping my apartment spotless SO easy. The vacuum is super powerful, working even on my 2.5 inch high pile shag rug. The spinning side brush would sometimes get stuck in the high pile rug, so I wrapped the rubber in a little tape and it has worked like a charm. I've had a lot of issues with past vacuums getting hair tangled and losing suction after a while, but the dual roller design of this robovac is so effective at making sure the hair actually goes into the dust bin vs. getting rolled up on the sides of the roller itself. I've been running this for a week and there's zero hair stuck. Also, the vacuum even operates at full suction still even when the dust bin is nearly full. Plus, this thing is SMART – the lidar on top does a great job of scanning out the layout of the space, and as someone who loves tech/smart home gadgets, I love that I can monitor the robovac remotely, activate/return it to home when on the go, check on cleaning progress, etc. I also love that it automatically detects thicker carpet and maxes out on the suction power. Plus, it even lets you choose which direction to vacuum in lines to make sure it doesn't go against the grain of hardwood floors and to avoid scratches. AMAZING! I would 10/10 recommend this for anyone – it's been so delightful having it run while I'm at work and come home everyday to a spotless floor. love it!! ... show more

  • Game-changer in our home; highly recommend
Size: S7+
UPDATE: I want to add a note about the mopping. While the mop unit is designed so that only the center of the mop pad directly receives water from the reservoir, I can tell you that 1) the whole pad gets damp, 2) in the pattern taken by the machine across your floor, each pass is about 6 inches from the prior path, meaning that there is significant overlap and it isn't relying on the whole pad being wet, and finally 3) I just watched it sweep and mop my floor and the entire floor was uniformly wet with no dry gaps. ORIGINAL: After we'd used the Roborock S7+ in our home for a few days, my wife had the best description: "This is a game-changer." We have mostly wood floors with a few rugs, and ideally everything should be vacuumed or swept at least 3-4 times per week, but that's not realistic for us with our work and family schedules. With the Roborock, we can schedule daily cleaning for high traffic areas, and clean any area on demand when we see that it needs it. For me the number one reminder of the benefit of the machine is this: when it does a scheduled run in a room that already looks clean to my eye, the dust compartment is full of dust and dog hair that would have stayed on the floor had we not had the Roborock. PROS: Proficient at picking up dirt. Good reach into corners and under furniture (it fits under our couches, which are 4.5 inches off the floor). Good maneuver/obstacle logic that keeps it from getting stuck without causing it to miss areas as a result. Intelligent room mapping and navigation, with ability to edit maps according to your needs. The benefit of mapping is 1) the robot can work in an efficient pattern based on knowledge of walls and furniture, and 2) if you manually move the robot to a room, it can scan the area and figure out where it is. Very useful phone app that can be installed on multiple phones -- I'm generally not a fan of devices that require a phone but this one is working well (see wifi note in Cons section below). Relatively quiet; I'd say similar noise level to a dishwasher, not as loud as a standard vacuum. I'm going to express lukewarm support for the mopping feature. It's really more like wiping with a damp cloth. Certainly better than nothing, but if I hired someone to mop I'd probably give them a bit of side eye if they showed up with this. CONS: Dust bin on the robot is pretty small. During the first few cleanings I had to manually empty it a few times (not difficult) while cleaning a large room. But after the initial runs (when our house was CLEANER), we can rely on the auto-emptying in the dock. For reference, this morning I did our living room, dining room, and central hallway, and the bin was about 80% full when complete. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no detection of the level of dust in the bin; you must pause cleaning and check it yourself if you think it might be full. There is no way to send it back to the dock for emptying, then resume the cleaning job it's doing. Returning to the dock requires it to restart the cleaning job. The building blocks are all there to incorporate this into a future version of the app (with the current app you can pause and resume the cleaning, or you can stop the cleaning and send it back to the dock. There needs to be a combination of the two that will pause the job, return to the dock to empty, then resume the job). That said, there's an easy workaround for now: schedule cleanings by room, and stagger the times so it returns to the dock between each room or group of rooms. This and any other home device requiring wifi access should be set up on a guest network to separate it from your computers and phones (most consumer routers can do this). Please note that Roborock is a Chinese company, and in China all companies cooperate with the government in the collection of data. This is a high-quality product that I recommend, but I'd prefer not to give them my home wifi password (the SSID and password are given to the robot during setup). ... show more

  • Great vacuum - miserable Alexa integration
Size: Q5 Pro+
Updated after two months of usage I have had this vacuum for a couple of months now. It is my 3rd robot vacuum - one iRobot and one other generic brand - and it by far works the best of the three. We have a golden retriever in the house so daily vacuuming is pretty essential and I need something that I don't have to babysit like my other two that were always managing to get themselves stuck or snagging a wire or something. After getting everything configured right, this seems to be working pretty well. I do a deep clean with higher suction power at least once a week (which does take a battery recharge break) and a basic clean every day which does not need a battery recharge. (Roughly 1800 square feet, probably two thirds vinyl and one third shallow carpet) and it runs without needing me to come save it and doesn't take much prep other than picking up throw rugs and dog toys. But getting it configured is harder than it should have been. First, getting it connected to wifi through the app. It kept hanging at the first step. A quick web search let me know to turn off cellular data on my phone and then it worked with no issue. If that is going to affect pretty much everyone on an iPhone, it would be pretty useful for the app to tell you instead of making you go search and it does not even show up in the troubleshooting steps in the app as a reason. Secondly, one of the major reasons I got this was the auto emptying. The first couple uses, I had a big wad of Golden Retriever hair in the dustbin that I had to manually empty. I then found the setting for Auto-Empty settings and switched it to Max. It has worked fine since. It is louder but the bin is empty. It also left some debris on the floor during its first use. Switched to a higher suction and it picked it up. (Small plastic piece from a tag that was on the vinyl floor - nothing sticky or hard to pick up). So I think the default settings are weaker than what most people actually need based on my small sample size. Also the documentation is pretty terrible. Figuring out how to get this thing to work as a mop has been a bit of trial and error. The documentation got me part of the way there, but it is generally useless. And one super useful bit of information would have been really nice - what goes into the water container. Roborock does make a cleaning solution. Some math and testing results in the container holds roughly 6 ounces of water. The dilution ratio on the cleaner is 1 to 300. That equals 1/8 of a teaspoon of a cleaner when you fill that tank with water. I also have to put the thing on its lfastest empty setting to have enough hitting the floor to make a difference. Lastly, the Alexa integration is horrible. The Roborock skill woth this particular model may be the most useless skill I have ever tried and that is saying something. You can not fire off a specific routine (like "Alexa, tell roborock to vacuum kitchen") The only thing that works is Alexa recognizes it as a smart device independent of the skill and you can turn it on or off (Alexa, Start Roborock) and it will run the default routine. I really have ended up using the app most of the time. So in summary - the vacuum itself is 5 stars. Easy maintenance, works well and runs well. The app (after you're done with the setup) would be 4 stars - editing maps and so on could be a bit easier but overall it works well. The mopping is two stars. It basically works but is a lot of extra effort to get working, poorly documented and is basically like wiping your floor with a cloth and no pressure. It reduces my mopping need a little, but not much. The configuration is two stars - harder than it should have been. And the integration is one star and really should be zero since it doesn't work at all. But I left my overall score as a 4 star because the ongoing use of it as a robot vacuum really is useful, doesn't require me to babysit or intervene often (maybe twice it has got caught on a wire or strap). It's the other areas that really need help so if those are your primary concerns, I would look elsewhere. If you want a robot vacuum that will work when you are not babysitting it and do a good job on your floors, I've been really pleased with it and would recommend it. So if you want a vacuum that works well after some configuring (Set Auto-Empty Settings to Max and build at least one cleaning routine with Max suction turned on), I would highly recommend it. If the Alexa integration instead if using the app is a big deal or you don't like to tinker with configuration, then you will probably find this one frustrating. I'll come back and update this after a month or so of daily usage so this is built on more than initial impressions but overall, this seems to have done the trick for me (two pets, two reasonably clean adults, no kids in house). ... show more
