  • Happy with Roborock S6 MaxV in this cat house
I waited to write this till I've had several months to use this robot. We are a family of 3 (1 Lego-loving kid) plus 3 old cats. Our house is single story, about 2100 sq ft (about 1,350 after subtracting furnishings), and covered with mostly luxury vinyl planking and several Persian rugs with fringe. Roborock worked well straight out the gate. My main issue for the first few months was Roborock getting stuck in the rug's fringe. I still don't know why it kept going over and over the fringe to the point of entanglement, but I have discovered the solution. I have turned off "Carpet Mode" under Vacuum Settings. It used to ramp up suction (and noise) when rolling over the rugs. Now it doesn't, and the AI has been also avoiding large piles of fringe, and it doesn't get entangled anymore. This means I have to vacuum the rugs manually more frequently, but they're not really a problem. The other nice thing about Roborock is it avoids pet waste! My main concern with 3 old lady cats is vomit, so I only run the robot when I'm home and I've checked all the rooms first. But I missed one once, and it deftly avoided the pile. Unfortunately, it will not avoid if it's merely liquid, so keep that in mind. (That goes for any liquids there may be! Even in mop mode, I would not clean up a liquid mess with this robot because the mop is behind the wheels and vacuum suction.) I was a little concerned with what maintenance would look like, as I'm rather lazy in that department. We empty the canister at the end of a full house cycle, and it's pretty full. (If it's been several days, we empty it mid-cycle, too, because of the cat hair.) The app keeps track of the filter, side brush, main brush, and sensors by number of hours the robot has been running, and will alert you until you've done the maintenance and recorded it in the app. Sensors takes 30h, but is super easy to wipe down with a lint-free cloth (basically dust it). Replacing the filter is very easy, as it's inside the canister. You can also rinse the filter of dust and let it dry between uses. The side brush and main brush don't need to be replaced very often. I've had the robot 5 months and the side brush still has 13% remaining and the main brush has 42% remaining, however, you should remove the main brush every so often and use the included tool to cut the hairs (and rug fringe) that have become wrapped around the ends. That's the most annoying maintenance job, I try to make my husband do it. Probably would be easier if I did it more regularly. A damp cloth to wipe down dust and prints on the top and sides, but that's more cosmetic. A few tips about running the thing. Yes, there are no-go zones, invisible walls, and no-mop zones you can set up in the app. Works flawlessly. My house is broken up into 3 mop zones because of my rugs, so on mopping day, I have to keep an eye on the app or the robot to know when it's finished with each section. Then I manually move it into the next section, press go and it's off doing it's thing with no trouble. Sometimes, rarely, it gets confused and tries to get to my bedroom through the kitchen wall. Or it goes in circles and stops because it's not sure where it is. Not sure why it happens exactly, but it's easy to stop it, pick it up, set it on the dock, and it's good to go again. I like the feature where if it's running low on battery, it sends itself home, recharges just enough to finish the map, and resumes where it left off. (Note: If you set up times for it not to run, it will not resume after that time begins or ends.) Overall, I love the darn thing. It's loud, sometimes gets stuck, and you have to clean the outside and insides, but it keeps my floors very clean and free of cat hair. It's trained my son to pick up his Legos and small toys from the floor to avoid getting eaten by "Max". It takes just over two hours to vacuum the house, longer in mop mode, and I run it almost every day. After 5 months, I call this experiment a glorified success. ... show more

  • Keeps the house clean without much thought
Color: Black
This Roborock Q-Revo is a total game-changer! Keeping my floors clean used to be a never-ending chore. Dust bunnies multiplied faster than I could vacuum, and don't even get me started on mopping. Then came the Q-Revo! This little machine is a cleaning superhero. It picks up every speck of dust and crumb, leaving my floors looking spotless. It basically takes care of itself! The dustbin empties itself into a big trash can at its home base, so I don't have to worry about it for ages. Plus, it washes its own mop and dries it with hot air - score for less cleaning! The Q-Revo is also super smart. It maps out my entire apartment and cleans everywhere without bumping into furniture (most of the time!). I can even control it with my voice or phone to start, stop, or schedule cleaning sessions. Okay, it might be a bit on the pricey side, but trust me, it's worth every penny. Now I have more free time to relax (or maybe make an even bigger mess, oops!). ... show more

  • Great vacuum/mop! Firmware update fixed main brush errors and carpet mode.
I almost returned this because of main brush obstruction errors and carpet mode being intermittent as you may see in other reviews. Considering I bought this shortly after the release I sort of expected the need for some bugs to be worked out. Both of these issues were fixed with the release of firmware 01.44.36. I have been running this new firmware for a week now and I am glad I kept it, its been the best robot vacuum and mop I have owned. Why I chose this one: I decided on this model because of the reviews from previous models but with updates to this model. It used LiDAR laser for mapping, has more suction then previous ones, Controls water flow for mopping (good with hardwood floors), an updated 8 core processor with GPU (room for future updates), privacy not using the cloud for AI object avoidance, but still works with the google home API if you want. I spent a year researching new vacuums compared to my old roomba’s while waiting for my house to be completed. I also had a brava mop, but the idea of one machine to do both was great and this was cheaper then by a competitors combo set for two machines. Performance: This is the best suction on any robot vacuum I have used, no problems getting the dirt between tiles or hardwood floor slats out. Does good on 1cm pile carpet with out any issues. I like the control over the water flow for the hardwood floors, and I can set the rooms with tile to use more water. AI object recognition: This seems to work good for the most part, if you have a cord that is flat on the carpet it might not see it, but I just set this area as a no go zone. Cords sticking up higher like in power strips are recognized along with shoes, the pedestal of my light bases, the glass scale (impressive since it is glass) and a few other things. Despite me telling the app I do not have a pet it did pick up with wheel casters on a desk chair as pet discharge. I am sure this will improve overtime and its not a big deal since it will needed to avoid the wheels of the chairs anyway. Battery: It was able to vacuums the whole house with 42% battery remaining. My house is a 1780sq feet, but the floor space it covers is about 1200 sq feet. I recommend: Buying an accessory kit that has additional mopping cloths so you will have a clean one as the others are waiting for that weekend laundry. I have ran the cloths in the washer and dryer and they don’t shrink. The accessory kit I bought was $26 USD and had 4 filters, 6 white side brushes, 5 mop cloths, 2 cleaning tools, and 2 main brushes, but the 2 main brushes are questionable with less bristles. Still worth the money for the filters, mop cloths and the white side brush work better on higher carpets in my opinion. Other things: They added remote viewing now for this pet owners that want to keep an eye on the pet while they are at work, this does work good although not something I will use. But I wanted to test it since they enabled it. You can watch it while its cleaning or use remote control to drive it. Just be carful when driving in remote mode, it doesn’t use the LiDar or bumper sensor in remote control mode so you can hit the wall or knock/push things over. Maybe they will enable the sensors for remote control in a cuter update? Things I hope they add going forward: They have a list of commands that can be used with google home and the one command they don't mention is “find my vacuum” or “locate my vacuum”. I hope they enhance this automated home experience by allowing the rooms to be named, this way you can tell the robot what room to vacuum. I also hope they let you name the schedules if you have multiple schedules and allow you to run a schedule manually my just telling google home. Let’s say you are expecting company, you can just tell your home automation to run a certain named schedule. If it was compatible with IFTTT then I could have my HoneyWell thermostat turn on the air circulation when its mopping to dry the floor faster, maybe this will be a future item? Final Thoughts: I think its worth the money when you look at buying a vacuum and mop robot to help around the house and the combination cost more then this single and capable robot. I believe they have worked out most of the new product firmware bugs now and hopefully it will only get better going forward with home automation. ... show more
