  • Awesome product
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
I moved my system from my house to my RV when I went full time. This system is awesome with maybe a quirk here or there. I’d recommend getting the solar setup for anything outside. If not you’ll be changing batteries constantly. I bought the panic button, motion detector , 5 cameras, door bell, freeze sensor, range extender and chimes equaling 31 items just on the ring, not including the robot vacuums, robot litter box, 5 Sonos speakers, 4 Alexa, Apple Home pod, 12 Emporia wireless plugs for electric monitoring, 6 lifx bulbs, 3 yard wireless lights, laptop, phone and everything else I have. All of this in my RV. The people that say this system doesn’t work, has bad signal or blah blah blah or doesn’t know what they’re doing or don’t have the wifi to handle all the components. I occasionally have a sensor that messes up but other than that all this is on my 1 T-Mobile home internet. Being in IT for 30 years I know that most of the modems only have the capacity to connect limited devices. I’ve always had to find a modem that handles all my stuff. If you having trouble with any of your wifi gadgets look at your system as that’s likely the problem. This system connect easily and works with very little interaction from me. ... show more

  • I can sleep better and leave the house comfortably
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
Honestly, this was better than what I expected. What I Liked: -- Very easy to set up -- Motion sensor is pretty good. -- Comes with a practice mode that helps me learn what'd happen if someone triggered an alarm. -- Scheduling is really convenient (can customize activation and deactivation by day and weekend/weekday) -- Connecting to live monitoring was super easy. What I'm not sure about: -- I accidentally triggered an alarm one day, and it didn't call me... [it's supposed to call me and ask for a passcode]. Some online reviews mentioned that it may wait for 60 seconds so that the owner has the time to deactivate it if it were triggered accidentally. I think this is plenty of time to steal some art pieces and run, so I'm not so sure if this is the best way to go. ... show more

  • Quick and easy
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
Took less than an hour to set it all up. When you plug in the base station and set up you account, it's already looking for the devices it came with. They other devices connect painlessly to the base station. It also was super easy to connect it to an Alexa. Whether you want to have them monitor it, or do it yourself, you can't go wrong with this system. I also got the retro alarm converter and that was super easy to get up and running too, with a little time transferring and testing the old wired connections. The only mistake I made was I stupidity bought another brand first and it was junk, which made me lery of buying this one, but I'm glad I did! ... show more

  • Form and Function - Perfect!
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
My electric bike was stolen from my backyard. The thieves jumped my locked gate, went through the side gate then took the bike from a closed storage shed. I had thought about an alarm system but had put it off due to cost. Well, my Ring kit (5-piece) cost a heck of a lot less than my replacement bike - lesson learned. On to my review... I purchased the 5-piece refurbished Ring system. I've always had great luck with Amazon's refurbished electronics. Added was an Outdoor Gate Sensor and an Outdoor Blink Camera (I already have a Blink doorbell). The setup was pretty simple - I just took my time and followed the guides. The look of the components is modern and clean. I incorporated the base unit into one of my gallery walls. The ring changes color so I always know the state of the system and it looks cool. I included the keypad as part of a vignette by my front door. The door sensors are mounted toward the top of each door frame and pretty much blend in. I chose not to install window sensors for now. I have manual window locks because of my A/C system. I've tested the siren (it's in the base unit) and it is super loud - very effective. Arming and disarming the system from the app, Alexa, and the keypad is very simple. All systems are a go LOL! I'll be installing the gate sensor today but have already tested it and it works great. There is a range extender included but it looks like I won't need it. It would be nice if Ring would include a template to wall mount the base unit. The mounting holes on the back are pretty awkward to work with. I used Gorilla Tape to mount it rather than messing with the screw mount. I haven't decided on a subscription plan yet so I'm self-monitoring for now. Yard signs are available separately, which I'll be purchasing as an additional deterrent. ... show more
