  • Pretty good ebike (updated)
I love in Washington DC and rent the escooters and bikes all the time and figured it was time to pony up and buy one. So this is the first ebike I've owned but not the first I've ridden. I just received it today and put it to the test. So although my review isn't based on owning this for months, I did put this baby through some tough conditions. Note, DC has a good number of 20-30 degree hills that I rode. And it was pouring rain tonight. I was hitting puddles that were up to my ankles. Pros - This thing is a better moped then an ebike. It functions well in pure moped mode. - very easy to put together but the instructions were crap. YouTube videos were very detailed and easy to follow. - ordered on Amazon and received 2 days later. - has good settings to set the gear you pedal at and they pedal assist settings. - looks cool and feels very sturdy. Mowed over DC potholes like it was nothing and the shocks absorbed the blows well. Very comfortable. - battery very easy to remove and take with you to charge. - headlight and backlight were the best of any ebike on the road with me. I'm sure some people thought I was on a motorcycle. Cons - battery seemed to not be as good as advertised. I got 25.7km and used a little less than 2/3 of a fully charged battery but I barely even touched the pedals and was going max speed over hills and everything else. So Id venture to bet if I used pedal assist at all I would more then double those numbers. For some reason, just having the bike parked and not plugged in now shows me that the battery has over half capacity left as if it has been charged some even though I haven't plugged it in since the ride. I suspect it drying out or resting and the battery cooling might give some charge numbers back? Not sure but will watch it more closely. - speed. Although I thought the speed was great. I was smoking fast is what it felt like. I had to slow it down most of the time. They advertise more then what I got (I think). On flat surfaces I got between 30-40kph and on uphills it was around 25kph. Most hills were around 25-30 degrees and pretty long hills also. So I was happy but again, I believe they advertised higher. - Pedal assist was pretty crappy. It assisted more then you would expect and would continue to assist well past when you stop pedaling which I'm sure will give less battery performance as a result. The DC street ebikes you rent are what I'm used to and their pedal assist is perfect. Exactly where you would want it to be and stops assisting after you stop pedaling but still let's the bike free drift. ... show more

  • Ultimately a good bike minus a few things, very fun to ride
Great looking bike, really fun to ride, good suspension. Quality feel. Also, the seat is really comfortable. Its more like a moped than an up ur butt bike seat. Top speed for me is 22mph on flat no wind. but im 280lbs. Probably 300 lbs with clothes and backpack. I have been riding for 2 months now. Iove the look, and controls, they are great. The headlight is super bright and it has a brakelight and running tail light and blinkers on back. I usually ride in heavy rain, and it does great. P.s. keep the manual for settings! Some negatives: Some things have come loose, kickstand, both brakes, seat, front wheel (several times) i have to check all these bolts weekly, the front wheel i check every ride, because it regularly comes loose. Battery life: i ride mostly throttle, i peddle to start, then throttle once the peddling is obviously not helping. I ride on mostly flat, with the occasional up grade that is barely noticeable to the naked eye. My battery only lasts 14 miles before going into limp mode, then 14.9 is totally dead. Also, top speed, even my 150lb kid cant get up to 30 on flat street. 22 seems to be the top speed. All in all i love this bike, i wish it was geared higher, i feel the battery would last longer. You basically cant peddle assist over 10mph even in 7th gear. All the other ebikes ive riden i love this 1 the most. Im 6'3" 280lbs and i always feel stable. ... show more

  • Beware. Safety Issues
I purchased this bike for my 15 (now 16) year old son in March 2024 based on Amazon reviews. Since then, he suffered two minor and one more serious accident. I took the bike to a local shop that sells both pedal-powered as well as e-bikes. The shop owner quickly identified two critical problems. One, the motorcycle-like throttle and the other, wire operated brakes. He felt both were significant safety issues - especially for children or young adults. He pointed out that the brakes should be hydraulic in order for the bike to stop properly. He also pointed out that the throttle should be thumb controlled “like 99% of e-bikes” because there’s a tendency for inexperienced riders to accidentally accelerate due to the “twitchy” nature of this particular throttle. He referred me to a second bicycle shop (for repairs) whose owner - with extensive motocross/motorcycle experience - absolutely agreed that the throttle and brakes were significant safety issues. I ended up making the necessary changes - at considerable out of pocket cost - and it now seems to respond in a much more controllable fashion. I strongly encourage you to avoid this bike until Riding Times corrects these critical problems. ... show more

  • Great bike - have had for around 10 months now - ridden daily in MN winters at start of year
Rode it in winter - handled really well in snow compared to my old jetson pro. The 4 inch tires really make a big difference. It goes just fast enough to make it feel ok in town on city streets. I wish it was about 5 miles per hour faster tbh to keep up with everyone going over speed limit but otherwise not bad. I'm 5'6" and 150 and can get it going like 43 kilometers per hour (you do math on mph). Its a weeeee bit tall for me at 5'6" fair warning. Have ridden it all summer though (put almost 1000 kilometers on so far without a tune up), half of the winter in Minnesota - was like riding a snowmobile in snow lolol. Excited for it to fall again this year :) ... show more
